Downing has had two seasons and failed spectacularly. He also has some of the worst awareness of in-game situations I have ever seen. He should be fired immediately

I’ll also add, what team right now would hire him away to be their OC? When the answer is nobody, it means you have the wrong guy in place.

Just how bad is the Titans current injury predicament they ruled out 7 players when they released the final injury designations which is more than the 6 teams combined (Colts, Vikings, Browns, Ravens, Dolphins, Bills) playing on Saturday.

Amy needs to do a deep dive into a lot of issues with this organization this off-season. This is near the top of the list

Downing certainly looks stupid on TV but I don’t know if that’s a firing offense.  The plays often seem sound even when they don’t work.

Everything OL related needs to be cycled though.

I’m personally getting sick & tired of Amani Hooker. I’ve been Hooker’s biggest fan, I loved the draft pick when we made it, and if anything I thought the staff was too slow to put him in. I also think he’s so good in coverage he should play the slot which he did against Indy & was great. But now that he’s AGAIN out I’ve just fucking had it with this guy. Molden is annoying but he clearly had a groin injury that he kept pulling, most guys who are out awhile have one injury they can’t get over. But fucking Hooker, now has a knee. First he had a concussion, then he comes back for a week & has a shoulder, now he has a knee. We have this guy a very nice extension & hes been nothing but a miserable fucking injury machine.

I’m also just so frustrated with the secondary injuries. This secondary was so deep but how can you hold up with Farley (granted a bust) being injured, Fulton, Molden, Hooker, and now Tre Avery after playing awesome for 3 weeks.

The other thing that has me insane is besides the amount of injuries, our best player on defense, Simmons, is a shell of himself & the offense, while healthy, we WANT some goddamn injuries. Every week Dennis Daley looks like he just came back from the Caribbean, couldn’t be healthier. But of course the one player we need besides RT, Burks, gets beheaded in the most illegal hit ever. I can’t, I just can’t.

One thing I miss about Jeff Fisher, remember what happened to Shawn Merriman when he cheap shotted VY & danced all around him? 2 series later Kevin Mawae effectively ended his career with a brutal dive at his knee. Completely & utterly destroyed it. He played like 4 more games after that. Fisher had that old school mentality. Maybe things are different now but Marcus Epps totally targeted Burks head & missled his helmet right into his temple. That’s our big rookie & he held onto the rock. I guarantee Fish would’ve put a hit on Epps after that. It’s about fucking time we start hurting guys instead of them hurting us…..

He's made his fair share of mistakes, there's no doubt about that.  He also has very little to work with.  I think both can be true (he's not a good coordinator and he's also trying to work with one hand tied behind his back).  My biggest hang-up with Downing is he tries to get too cute sometimes when it's not needed.  Regardless, it's very hard to defend him and I certainly understand why fans are frustrated.  I'm just not sure how much they can really expect with the talent on the field.

And fans always seem to dislike the coordinators.  It's the nature of the position.

As the season grows longer, the anger level around here keeps increasing and the intelligence quotient keeps going down; and the ironic part of it is that a lot has to do with the injury factor that the staff has limited control over. It would be nice if firing the entire training and medical staff would miraculously insulate the team from injuries in the future, but somewhow I doubt that would be the case.

We have an alarming uncommon rate of soft tissue injuries which is something you can pin on our staff and how we prevent and treat injuries... its another failure of the Robinson regime

How is that a Robinson issue? Vrabel kicked watterson to the curb.

I mean, I get it...two years in a row of being at the record for injuries is something. There are, however, at least two possibilities.

1. Everything Face says above, from training staff to coaching, etc.

2. We have mostly the same players in any two year period. Those players are injury prone and/or have been dealing with nagging, repetitive injuries for the past two seasons.

Obviously, could be some in between going on, but many of these injuries are contact related, which is NOT coaching.

To add on to this, players leave the Titans oft injured and somehow remain healthy on their new teams.  A.J. Brown and Rodger Saffold being prime examples.

I'm going to say this without any legitimate data to back it up, but we didn't have injuries like this when Steve Watterson was in charge of strength and conditioning. And when JRob fired him he was the longest tenured Oilers/Titans coach. 30 years IIRC. The Turk was the BOSS.

I went to the New England playoff game in 2019 and the temperature at game time was 15 degrees and Watterson was walking around the field during pregame in his shirtsleeves. It was the coldest game I ever attended.
