It's time for a thread dedicated to injuries

I know this topic has been talked about ad nauseum on this message board but I don't see a thread dedicated to it.  What do you all think the issue is and how can it get corrected?  Is it just the training staff is inept?  Does the staff and management recognize if there's an issue?  Are they willing to do anything about it?

Coming into this week the Titans are first with 237 games missed due to injury, which will only get worse after Sunday.  That's 27 games more than second place Denver.  You can't win this way.  You can't field a competitive team this way.  Regardless of how talented the Titans may be overall, and that's certainly up for debate, as presently constituted with what they're going to throw out there Sunday they are one of the worst teams in football.  Of their 12 players that were projected to probably get the most plays on defense prior to the beginning of the year the Titans will be down to six on the field Sunday.  No Autry.  No Landry.  No Long.  No Fulton.  No Molden.  No Hooker.  And possibly another one if Cunningham isn't activated.  And yet another, Simmons, hasn't been himself for weeks.  And this is coming off a season in which they used the most players in NFL history (a record they're not far away from right now in a second straight season in which they lead the league in the category).

So aside from a possible training issue, what is it?  Are they practicing too hard?  Not practicing hard enough which impacts their ability to be in shape?  Whatever it is it needs to change for this franchise to eventually hopefully be able to take the next step.  Because they sure as heck aren't taking it when half of an entire side of the ball can't play and they're relying on players who would probably be playing in the second half of the final preseason game to help them win games in December.

Also I think Vrabel’s pre-season and training camp plans do not help the players build strength going into the season. I feel like most players are in PS Game 1 mode body wise by the time Week 1 is happening. It is why they usually start the season somewhat sluggish. They just aren’t ready or prepared physically for it. Vrabel is a players coach and I think he gives the vets a bit too much time off in the lead up to the season.

We have an alarming uncommon rate of soft tissue injuries which is something you can pin on our staff and how we prevent and treat injuries... its another failure of the Robinson regime

Will be interesting to see if that whole training staff is replaced in offseason. Someone has to be blamed.

The Titans play 7 games against the 5 healthiest teams this season.

The Titans this year have played against as tough a QB schedule as I can remember.  In consecutive weeks they’ve had to face Mahomes, Wilson, Rodgers, Burrow, Hurts, Lawrence, Herbert and after a one game reprieve it’s back to Prescott and Lawrence.  Obviously Wilson and Rodgers aren’t what they once were but that’s tough sledding overall.  And before that they already faced Allen and Carr.

So in addition to facing healthy teams they’re also facing most of the top QBs in the game.

Both should be shitcanned in early January. And if Vrabel doesn’t fire Downing, he needs to be fired

He may or may not fire Downing.  I do not believe the offense's struggles are all Downing's fault.

Remember, everyone wanted Shane Bowen fired after 2020.  It didn't happen and he's turned out to be a decent DC.

Sometimes you need talent.  The offensive talent that Downing has to work with is among the worst in the NFL.  And maybe he's not good.  But he certainly has the personnel to succeed.

Downing sucks but canning him won't fix the offense. Vrabel needs to adapt his offensive philosophy for that to happen. I also think the training/medical staff likely needs to be blown out. The amount of injuries can't be all due to bad luck. There has to be other factors.

Downing has had two seasons and failed spectacularly. He also has some of the worst awareness of in-game situations I have ever seen. He should be fired immediately
