Vrabel gaining more personnel control is not a good thing - regardless of who the new GM is - I promise you that.

Vrabel's comment "who is he going to throw it to?" about the receivers/Malik is a little more cryptic now.    I loved Jrob, but I love AAS more. She ain't fucking around. Ya love to see it.

^^^Said this the day we signed him.

Walker Edwards and Basham have shown more impact at a fraction of the cost.

They were desperate for an edge rusher but Dupree was never a good signing.  They overpaid for a guy who was coming off an injury and was the third best pass rusher on his own team who they didn't even try to retain.

Its amazing how wrong some of you are about Dupree. He has been a difference maker when healthy. Since reinjuring his hip against the Chiefs, he hasn't been the same. Health is the reason Dupree will be cut or asked to take a massive pay cut.

While Bud Dupree has once again struggled with some injuries, he has played more than 12 snaps in 3 games and he has missed or played less than that in 4 games.

The 3 games with more than 12 snaps, the Titans averaged 3.7 sacks per game.

-The 4 games with 12 or fewer snaps, the Titans averaged 2 sacks per game.

His impact is nearly identical to last season even without a star like Harold Landry on the other side. In fact, through seven games he is actually making an even bigger impact than he was last year.

The biggest difference between this year and last year is that Bud Dupree is the one getting the sacks instead of Harold Landry. In each of the three games where Dupree has played more than a dozen snaps, he has had a sack.

Over the course of a season, that 1.5 sack per game differential turns out to be the difference between a pass rush with 34 sacks and a pass rush with 60 sacks.

@oldschool More pointedly, the salary cap is the reason he will be cut. We’re way over for 2023 as of now.

Fair although I would argue if he could stay healthy they would try to keep him. What I'm pushing back against is the complete bullshit that Dupree isn't a plus defender who makes the defense better and that he'll be easily replaced. Thats crazy talk.

Weaver completely sucks

When they let Dupree go they need to either sign a premium pass rusher in FA or draft one high

it was telling Vrabel called Weaver a rotational guy earlier in the season. The notion the team planned to replace Dupree with him is laughable.

Plus defenders produce.  It's absolute BS to pretend like he has at a premium level.  He's produced, at a below average starter level... and that's when healthy which has been almost never.  The fall off from him to Mario Edwards is not very much.  You're welcome.

Facts:

He ranks 54th in sacks and 45th in total pressures.  He's been a total non factor from every measurable statistic you can find.

Lol no. I just provided some stats for you that disprove everything you claim. I can find others as well.

I can say with a fair amount of certainty the Titans win the Chiefs game if he doesn't get hurt.

But yeah he is overpaid since he can't stay healthy and isn't really a sack specialist. That doesn't mean he isn't a good player.

Exactly. Its one thing to argue Dupree isn't a premium edge who racks up sacks. Its another to claim he's a below average starter. Thats an insane take.

Also, he fits perfectly with what the team wants from the SOLB. He's been asked to do a lot more this year in the base and 3-3-5 looks where he's essentially playing Landry's role. He played really well at the start of the season. He's looked like a shell of himself since KC.

The Titans cannot cut Dupree and roll with Weaver and a rehabbing Landry. They need at least a rotational piece to pair with Weaver. But Dupree cannot be kept at the current salary

Resign DeMarcus Walker.
