I have been eating vegan a long time. I have seen people get offended, some not vocally but from reaction. Also, someone relayed an experience that highlights this. The person was traveling and went to a restaurant in a small town in Texas. The person asked the waiter if the restaurant had anything without animal products in it. She said the waiter had a blank stare for a second or two and then said, "yes, you could get a jam sandwich." She said, "that sounds good, what all is it." He then angrily told her it is two piece of bread that he will jam together, as he hit a fist into his other open palm, adding "and that is all you will get here." 9 Nines Posted August 4, 2022 Author Report Share Posted August 4, 2022 (edited) Thinking about this, I thought it was funny at first but it might pinpoint their problem more than anything. They do not seem focused on any policies, other than being against things they are told are "socialist" etc. , nor really against anything that directly affects them. Their main gripe might well be things are changing socially around them, and they do not know how to cope. I guess they are in an existential crisis and simply lashing out at everyone. Surely that’s gotta be it, right? Cracker Barrel tested this in a few restaurants first. Evidently the item sold or Cracker Barrel would not have introduced it across its system, but I doubt many vegetarians or vegans would actively go to Cracker Barrel. So who buys it. It is probably people with high cholesterol making marginal change. So it was probably helping people to some degree, and now these loud mouths are trying to take that option away from those people.
