The problem isn’t just the politicians as they get more scrutiny if it’s their investments. It’s insider tips they give to friends and family and for political favors. It’s also aides working on the Hill as well, who are privy to this info. There’s really no way to practically stop all of it, even if they were to ban elected officials from trading altogether. Pelosi's husband has the same info all the other big money traders get. You guys like to focus on Pelosi because you are brainwashed into attacking Dems for all of our ills (as you have displayed again here), but mostly you just want to distract from the rampant insider trading being done by Republican senators at the start of the pandemic. Now, if you want to argue that no one who works in Congress or their families should be allowed to trade stocks then I’m all for it. Just stop pretending that it’s about Pelosi. Wrong. Look back at my posts. But you refuse to condemn any on your side. There is a reason hacks spend millions, Republicans included, to get elected. No other job allows for millions to be made on a fairly modest salary. Its called the swamp. And its not just recently by Pelosi. Or Biden. Or Lamar. Or Cooper. Or Mitch. Or Menendez. Name any of them. Either side. They are all whores.

If there were actual evidence of insider trading I’d jump at condemning it. And I have done exactly that when we saw actual evidence of it going on. But I’m not going to jump on idle speculation like you are willing to (against Democrats, of course). And again, I’m all for reforming the system to make it harder for everyone in Congress to use insider knowledge. I’ve been supportive of that for a long time. tgo
Are we as a country willing to just continue to allow this genocide/ethnic cleansing to occur? The lack of intervention is shameful.

Starkiller
War is very different in the nuclear age. There’s no real risk in using the military against Slobodan Milosevic in the Balkans or in getting involved in Syria. Directly attacking Russian troops in the field is a totally different matter. It carries a significant risk of nuclear war. Ending a genocide is laudable, but you have to balance it with the possibility of nuclear holocaust. And even in WW2 we didn’t get involved directly for years, not until we were attacked by Japan and Germany foolishly declared war on us. We supplied weapons and supplies to the Brits like we are doing with Ukraine. But Americans opposed us getting into the war right up until Pearl Harbor. And the Axis didn’t even have nukes as a deterrent like Russia does.

The risk is infinitesimal as long as communication channels remain open.
tgo
At bare minimum, why has the Biden administration not designated Russia as a state sponsor of terrorism? This is a basic, elementary step that apparently they are too weak and fearful to undertake?

I trust Putin to be self interested in terms of holding onto power in Russia and not being suicidal. As far as the less than 1% risk? Yeah I’m willing to risk that to stop a genocide and we need to at least outwardly project that we’re willing to in order to prevent these inhuman atrocities. It depends on how desperate and humiliated he is, also if he's really sick with nothing to lose. I don't think it would be impossible for him to try and do something crazy as a last resort. Someone/s inside Russia needs to overthrow him, best possible outcome Starkiller, MadMax, and smokeater
