Afghanistan pushed the Russians out in the 80s and Ukraine as a whole is a more intelligent country. I hope they are capable
croatian22
Putin is an idiot, and I feel bad about Ukranians, but the situation will likely calm down in the next few days, he can't go that far. USA and European Union already activated millions of sanctions to Russia. Russians will be even more poor. Long term, the biggest losers here are Russians, and of course Ukranians because they are under fire

Afghanistan has been able to repel superior forces due to its mountainous and largely inhospitable terrain which negated the technological advantages foreign invaders had. Ukraine isn't remotely analogous to Afghanistan in that respect. Edited February 24, 2022 by oldschool begooode

Rogue
Quote In a televised address, Ukraine’s president, Volodymyr Zelenskiy said he was disheartened after speaking to Western leaders. “I see no one,” to fight alongside Ukraine, he said. Disheartening. Quote The US president “spent an hour this afternoon on the phone” with leaders she said, Members of congress are looking to approve hundreds of millions of dollars in additional military and humanitarian aid for Ukraine. The US has already sent $400m in military assistance to Ukraine since the middle of last year. Nancy Pelosi, the Democratic Speaker of the House of Representatives, said lawmakers are looking to provide $600m for “lethal defense weapons”. “What we’re doing with Ukraine is making sure that we have humanitarian assistance to help the people, that we have lethal defense weapons going into Ukraine to the tune of $600 million for them to fight their own fight,” Pelosi said. It's a nice gesture, I guess. https://www.theguardian.com/world/live/2022/feb/24/russia-invades-ukraine-declares-war-latest-news-live-updates-russian-invasion-vladimir-putin-explosions-bombing-kyiv-kharkiv

You know China is watching close as they have eyes on Taiwan. Yeah, if this somehow goes very well for Putin it puts Taiwan more likely in play for China. That is ~100x more globally catastrophic economically.

No NATO country can openly engage with Russia in warfare. It’s literally the definition of MAD. The best we can do is supply them and fuck over Russia on every other front. As far as I know, there is no treaty or contact stopping NATO, or anyone else, from engaging militarily with Russia. MAD is a concept, not a treaty. Now, the wisdom of engaging is another matter.
