The “deal” that we end up getting will be worse than whatever we got before we went in . He wasted lives,money, economies to get something significantly worse in the long haul. The interesting part will be watching Israel. They've openly claimed a veto in the matter and it would be up to Trump calling off his dual citizens in Kushner and Witkoff to back them down and reassert the dominant position in the relationship. They brought us into this war. If they aren't satiated they can sabotage any negotiations with strikes against the negotiators. The other side of this is Saudi Arabia. Israel doesn't mind a completely collapsed Iran. Saudi Arabia does, but they also do not want to see a retrenchment, which is exactly what's happening. The precedent of shutting down the Straight is set. That deeply affects their security, especially if the regime remains. Counter opposing goals between the instigators makes the bullshit offramp we are being sold even less feasible, and that's especially so for long-term guarantees. What we know for sure is this accelerates China's transition to renewables while the idiots in our government are paying a billion dollars to a French company not to build wind turbines that would have produced power to 1 million homes.
