For example, on letting 3 crazies on the Rule committee: "So handing over some committee seats to firebrand conservatives who have a tendency to try and muck up party leaders’ agenda would be quite a change. Per Ferris, three seats for hardliners would be enough to let them block legislation from moving through the committee (unless Democrats provide their own votes to help get a bill through)." https://www.vox.com/policy-and-politics/2023/1/6/23542817/kevin-mccarthy-speaker-deal-congress-debt-ceiling It would be much issuers, on numbers alone, to get compromises from the bulk of Republicans and Democrats than cater to 20 crazies out of 435 total voting representatives. So assuming cool heads prevail, and the crazies remain crazy, then the Republican cool heads will have to turn to cool head Democrats to get vital things passed, which would mean, Democrats, not the crazies, might gain more power, because the Democrats would want something in return. I.e. this might create more bi-partisan legislation out of necessity to do so to pass something. yeah, it's going to be bad.

Right wing extremists in the GOP will at the very least demand big cuts to spending, specifically in aid to Ukraine among other things, for the US to continue to pay it's bills. Dems and Biden won't cave. Gaetz and others won't let McCarthy agree to anything less and it'll be up to Republicans from moderate districts to stand up and join the Dems for the basic things to go through. luvyablue256

McConnell becomes the only reasonable gop leader, however, he’s heavily invested in seeing the senate flip repub in 2024 with a very favorable map for them. How does he manage the Trumpers? How heavily is he praying that the DOJ does the heavy lifting for him by prosecuting coup actors and documents thieves. reo

pamo9
Classified documents from Biden's time as VP discovered in private office, source says https://www.cnn.com/2023/01/09/politics/joe-biden-classified-documents-upenn/index.html I guess you know who will try and blow this all out of proportion. begooode
gop leadership: they’re going after regular people like you! LOFL. Mainstreaming a criminal mindset based on tribalism, while still propping up the old: we’re the party of law and order. there aren’t many blatantly positive ROI opportunities for government spending - put in $1 and more than $1 is returned. But like the 2017 tax bill proved, the gop LOVES deficit spending, as long as it’s tilted towards their donors. https://thehill.com/homenews/house/3805913-cbo-gops-irs-bill-will-add-114b-to-deficit/ The Republican proposal to eliminate billions of dollars in IRS funding will pile more than $100 billion onto federal deficits, according to a new estimate from Congress’s official budget scorekeeper. The bill, which is slated to hit the House floor Monday night as the first legislative act of the new GOP majority, would claw back most of the almost $80 billion in new IRS funding provided under the Democrats’ massive climate, health and tax package, which was signed by President Biden last year. Almost $46 billion of that spending would go toward agency enforcement efforts designed to prevent certain taxpayers — largely corporations and wealthy individuals — from paying less than they owe. The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) estimated Monday that the legislation would cut federal spending by $71 billion, but would reduce tax revenue to the tune of almost $186 billion. The net effect would be a $114 billion increase in deficits over the next decade.
