Bullshit. We had no data on how to respond to it. We had little chance to learn until trial and error. And our so called guru was from the beginning intimately involved in the cover up since his funding was directly going to the research. Rand Paul was right from day 1. The lack of anger at the probable culprit is telling  and hypocritical. The lack of interest and the constant deflecting is abominable. You guys have more outrage at one white cop killing a black criminal than in the millions killed by a virus that escaped from a lab funded in part by the US. Unbelievable.

As we ban books from schools, pass laws to ban drag bars, pass laws against women's autonomy.  Yep, we don't allow none of that alternate thought.

That's not how I remember it playing out. The people who were shouted down were the ones being overtly political and asserting speculation as fact. 

 

Also, the idea we funded Gain of Function is not truthful. They could have taken money we gave them for other research to do that, but that was not our intent. Now, with that said, I agree going forward there should be much stricter oversight for any funding going into this type of research if any at all. The fact is though we know these pandemics are most likely to originate in wet markets, which is why we were funding research there in the first place.
