Biden has been effective on getting legislation passed, but there's a inspiration/hope gap with him that he has not been able to shake since the Afghanistan withdrawal, imo.

President Biden’s approval rating has slipped to below 40 percent, almost matching the lowest approval rating of his presidency, according to a new Reuters/Ipsos poll.

The poll, published Wednesday, found that 39 percent of respondents approve of the job Biden is doing as president. The latest poll numbers are down 3 percentage points from last month’s poll, where 42 percent of respondents said they approve of Biden’s performance as president.

The only way he wins is if Trump is the opponent. It's an interesting situation to say the least.

Biden isn’t super popular, but you can’t deny some of the legislation they passed during the first 2 years. But people will fixate on his age and inflation.

Trump is a piece of shit and people will still vote for Biden over Trump. I think DeSantis has been so extreme that I think the same would hold true in a Biden-DeSantis matchup, but it’s less clear.

The GOP has amalgamated into a singular entity around Trump. Anyone that isn't Trump will run a very similar style just to make it through (this only happens if Trump can't run). It's now a real thing that any GOP candidate across the board wanting any power will essentially be a radical, doubly so in the presidential elections. It's batshit crazy what they've become.

The Republican candidate has to be a bat shit crazy (or pretend to be) to win the primary, which makes it hard to win the general

Of course the electoral college makes it more possible

The EC needs to go away.  Of course, it won't.  But it needs to.

The EC needs to stay, and thankfully it will.

What needs to go away is the UN.   The organization is promoting the idea that minors can consent to sex with adults.   Is this the next movement of the left?

Why does the EC need to stay?  So repubs can circumvent the popular vote?

Marrying minors is a bastion of the red states.

Manchin doing Manchin things to swim with the sharks in red state WV.  but jeez

Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.), who faces reelection in a Republican-leaning state, on Thursday slammed President Biden for showing “a deficiency of leadership” on a potential national default and applauded Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) for proposing a plan to raise the debt limit.

Manchin, who has feuded with the Biden administration over implementation of the Inflation Reduction Act, which Congress passed last year, took the president to task for not sitting down with McCarthy to negotiate fiscal reforms in exchange for raising the debt limit.
