I mean, they have been saying "We are supportive of cryptocurrencies as long as they are properly controlled and regulated" since 2017 even during shitting on BTC. Knowing that governments have to and will step into crypto is inevitable for adoption. The other issue is confusing decentralized with anonymous... the very nature of cryptography indicates a ledger and recorded history everyone shares. Which will fuck us in the end or make us the enemy of every country that chooses to hold/mine. russia/India/China are all mining heavily. Australia on board too. Then you have the smaller countries in the Middle East, South America, and Africa hopping on board. Late stage capitalism is too slow and reactionary rather than proactive. Is it really capitalism or is it just political bureaucracy getting in the way? Back when Silk Road was a bigger thing and crypto was the easiest way to run transactions through it I could see that being a bigger issue for mass adoption. Since BTC is so institutionalized with government and corporate based entities investing in it who are too big to fail, that's such an afterthought these days (the biggest reason that there will be much more global regulations). I'm sure there are still lots and lots of people citing dirty money as a reason to not keep your money in crypto, but those people have a laundry list of other reasons to stay out. Not just capitalism but late-stage capitalism .. where we become essentially an oligarchy of those leading our biggest companies and politicians.. and allowing the audacious bribing and jerk fest to create policy and deny change in order to maintain their power. They get a belief of invincibility and don't think long-term. Pride goes before the fall. Some are buying in now as it gets bigger but if it's purely a mining race- the USA already lost.
