Is there any part of politics that isn't surrounded by hypocrisy? Well the forums in which he did it vs them doing it are a touch different. ChesterCopperpot1
Remember when Twitter went ballistic for Dems not standing for Trump's speech to Congress? The GOP had no issue sitting and not standing for President Obama. Number9

Btowner
8 minutes ago, JakePA_Titan said: Bullshit. Dude said it once. He didn't try to drown Obama out. He didn't prevent Obama from giving his speech. He made one statement. Not defending it, both were rude and disrespectful. The fact that your trying to defend one by saying it "wasn't as important" is fucking retarded. Both are wrong. But IMHO, I hold a current member of Congress attending a SOTU address, who knows the expected behavior, established etiquette and basic civility you should show the POTUS to a higher standard than attendees at a town hall. It's like a mischievous toddler shouting bullshit in a grocery store and their father shouting bullshit in church. One should know better. Hint, it isn't the toddler. pat
1 hour ago, JakePA_Titan said: So what, you meant to say it's not hypocrisy? Actually no it is not hypocrisy. Elected officials are peers expected to honor the (small d) democratic process and often that includes taking turns talking. In a town hall, however, an elected official is meeting their boss. It is entirely appropriate -- even expected -- for the electorate to disregard the elected's right to talk. Now if the heckling prevented a segment of the electorate from holding the floor, that would be rude. But an elected has no right to demand silence from the electorate. Different atmospheres. Different expectations and etiquette requirements. Edited April 16, 2017 by reo

Grown adults don't know how to be the bigger person? It's shitty people with nothing better to do but complain and be obnoxious themselves. If the "elected" doesn't hold a town hall, the "electorate" bitch and throw stones. If the "elected" does hold one, the still bitch and throw stones. And if it wasn't for him calling Obama out his name, they would have found something else to botch about. Kind of like the politics board. People here try and dig up every little thing to bitch about. "An elected" is shorthand for "an elected official". In the first case an elected official was being disrespectful of the citizens who voted for another elected official, while in the second case citizens were being disrespectful of an elected official. Politicians don't deserve respect from citizens. The second case doesn't bother me. Sell out your constituents, well then suck it up and enjoy the rotten vegetables.
