Jonboy
Jason La Canfora @JasonLaCanfora Sounds like the Titans spent some bigboy money to land Ken Whisenhunt Mercalius, JLocker10, TennesseeTuxedo, and 1 other
IsntLifeFunny
Apparently Horton runs a 1 gap 3-4. Hope we bring him in.
JLocker10
Did anyone else see the report that he would likely be calling his own plays? If so, that makes the OC slightly less important. I hope we get Horton for DC. Jason La Canfora @JasonLaCanfora Titans Coach Ken Whisenhunt would like to land John McNulty (Bucs) and Keith Butler (PIT) as his coordinators, but could be blocked on both I'd be very surprised if we landed Butler. McNulty was with Whiz 4 years in ARI. Used to be the WR coach for the Jags during those Smith-McCardell days

There is a lot more to belong oc than calling plays in the game.

bostontitan
As far as why he picked us and not the lions ...SIMPLE . ..............LOOK AT THE DIV .................... Where does he have a better shot at winning the div ,,,,A F C south or N F C north? I think he has a better shot in our div ...all we really have to do is beat colts ... Jags ,will be better but still we should of blown them out twice... Texans will be tough but also new head coach ...also big ? Colts ..they are beatable with a right coaching staff wich we should get now ... so win your div and your in ...thats the focus ...something munch could not do ..... Starkiller
I think the best pro-Wisenhunt argument is this: He took the ARIZONA CARDINALS to a Super Bowl! The Cards are probably the worst organization in NFL history and he got them that close to being the champs. Yes, he went down hill when Kurt Warner (a QB he picked out of the recycle bin) retired, but no coach was winning with the QBs he had to work with after Warner. We need a good QB no matter who we hired. At least we hired a guy who proved he can do it with the right tools. TennesseeTuxedo, and AFCman
cenj
I'd be very surprised if we landed Butler. McNulty was with Whiz 4 years in ARI. Used to be the WR coach for the Jags during those Smith-McCardell days Butler would be a monster coup. If he wanted to be a DC, he would have been already. He's just waiting for LeBeau to leave -- here's hoping he's getting impatient. Apparently Horton runs a 1 gap 3-4. Hope we bring him in. Not sure where you got this, but he definitely uses multiple gap concepts. His defense also uses multiple fronts and is very attack/blitz heavy, like the Steelers. Horton will definitely want a big-bodied NT and larger DEs that can play 5-technique -- he's known for mixing in 3-technique and trying to adapt to personnel, but it's not what you're probably thinking as a penetrating 1-gap style. For that, Wade Phillips is the better fit (he basically runs a 4-3 with 3-4 personnel).
cenj
I'm a big fan of Horton and would be 100% on board with that hire.

Sports in the ARI area have come a long away. Historically though ARI is one of the worst sports organizations in NFL history I agree. Just look at the history. Beautiful stadium though. CMJ
There are some flags with this hire. If the stories are true, then keep mularkey away . Whiz will be calling the plays on Offense, so the OC will be a token hire really

I was worried he was strictly a traditional 2 gap guy. From what I read, and like you said, he switches principles based on personnel. If that is the case, he should quickly see on tape that Casey is one of the best penetrating 3 techs in the game and needs to primarily be used as such. cenj
