Borgonzi showing out today so far. -
I agree this is what happened and at the time they were trying to get BC to choose them, not the other way around. They didn’t want to “disrespect” him by asking those type of basic rules questions. Would be nice though to find a professional way to evaluate that kind of thing without the candidate feeling talked down to.
-
One part of the process that was missing is making sure you ask rules of the game questions to never been a HC before candidates. I surely thought during the interview process that the candidate would be put through several in-game scenarios to evaluate their game management process and decisions. I’m not so sure they did that with Callahan though. Seems like such an obvious part of a HC interview.

If this story is true at face value, then the apple didn’t fall far from the tree. More emotional decisions and franchise instability to follow. HOPE is all that will be left. The HOPE would be, however, that the truth lies in the middle somewhere. Something along the lines of the front office and ownership still trying to follow through with the patience talk and overlook the mounting losses with a HC now exhibiting being in over his head, and not getting any better. The thought by both owner and front office would be to just make it through the season and pull the trigger on the HC then. In their weekly meeting after the Raiders loss, however, the discussion took a much more serious turn to the possibility BC was not only not developing Ward, but actually hurting his development and could even get him hurt. The HOPE is that all parties then agreed it was time to make a change. If the above scenario were true, however, how in the fuck did this guy get hired in the first place? WTH did they talk about in the interview? A few cursory questions on the rules of NFL football should have at least been reason to bring in a few more candidates. The HOPE here is that sleepy Ran was allowed to make most of this decision because Brinker has some stink on him for this one as well. Borgonzi is the saving grace and the HOPE going forward. The team is desperate for better decision making on the front end, so back end decisions like this dont have to be made this way. This GM better have final decision authority on talent evaluations, roster development, and the next HC search. The HOPE is that this story is maybe only partially true, Borgonzi is the shit, and Bud is still rotting in the grave and leaving his daughter the fuck alone. Yikes, that’s a lot of dam hope.

Let me know when you get to 50 years on these fucks. Celebrating that nice little pos anniversary this year. You dumbass idiot rookies are not supposed to completely cut your throat when the team blows ass and hits the bottom. Just use the cheese grater on your balls a little at a time and peel the scab off each sunday so it can bleed out a little more each week. It’s a lot easier.

This has always been Henry. His skill is making the 2nd line of defense miss or even tossing them off the field. If you can defend the line of scrimmage well, Henry is a tomato can. He can still make you look really stupid once he gets into the secondary, but he needs quite a bit of help to get there.

Another reason to call this GM’s first draft successful. Having the returner position buttoned up for several years is underrated. -
Absolutely. I was already taking a moral victory for the 4th quarter play and the win was just an added bonus. The best thing about the freaky stuff was it gave Cam the chance to operate live in the 2 min drill with the game literally on the line. He absolutely killed it and the OL gave him the chance to do it. Pockets were forming nicely. Would be good to see that light one of those eternal flame things going forward. Jury still out on Callahan for me, but the early season not knowing the rules and game management stuff was pretty bad. If he continues to improve and even can become an actual good game manager, this year may be seen as he and Cam going through the shit times to come out smelling like roses on the other side. To be continued.

A cathartic win for the team and lets them breathe as they go into next week. I think the best outcome was seeing Cam operate in a 2 min drill with a game on the line. He pretty much knocked it out of the park in his very first NFL attempt at doing so. That’s pretty dam huge. -

I agree that’s dam close, but I’m glad he didn’t get it just for the sheer stupidity of what he did. -

Agreed. From the outside looking in, it appears BC is simply way in over his head as a leader, game manager, and in offensive scheme and strategy. It seems like he’s doing the opposite of what you would do to develop a young qb. He’d probably be a decent offensive quality control coach, but that’s about it. Yes, they have “ass” for talent at multiple positions on both offense and defense, however you would also have to have “ass” at the coaching positions to look this bad. This season is hopeless, but the light at the end of the tunnel is Ward. If we start seeing Cam with his head down and continuing to regress, then all these motherfuckers need to be shown the door immediately regardless if it makes the team look unstable for now. -

The problem is with the increase in the cap, most teams are able to re-sign their players and not much talent is hitting free agency anymore. -

I’m definitely interested to see what Borgonzi looks for in a new HC.

Richard Sherman on Russell Wilson

I think it’s another example of just how much football is the ultimate team sport. Every phase of the game has to at least be serviceable to consistently win, along with one or two phases(units) being great. The easiest way to win consistently is with a franchise qb, but the rest of the team needs to be at least serviceable. OTOH, the hardest way to win is if you don’t have a qb. Then every other unit needs to be basically elite to win consistently. Varying degrees of the above can also be a winning combination, but one good unit alone without any help at all can not make it happen by themselves(his self in the case of the qb). -
Titans Offensive Development Process
smokeater replied to Pragidealist's topic in Titans and NFL Talk
This can work if everyone is on the same page I suppose. The play calling does appear disjointed at times, however. Too many cooks with differing thoughts maybe? A lot of times you call plays to set up something bigger down the road a few plays later. Not seeing much of that, but then again you also need players with talent to execute, so…
