Why should the GM say anything different? One game good or bad is not a guarantee for future success or failure. Today, the Bucs beat the Saints on the road and Winston went 21-27 for 200 yards and a TD.
Both QBs could become great. It doesn't have to be one or the other situation. The fans are driving this stupid "we pick the right guy, you were stupid" agenda and should spend more time focusing on the bad OL and suspect defenses on both teams.
Lo Neal was a big part of the running game and kick-off returns. If you see any big returns, the KR is following him. What's hilarious, the Titans didn't resign him because they wanted to diversify the offense. They felt they were too predictable with a FB in the game. Even though we can argue they were predictable because they gave Eddie George a career high 403 carries!
So, they cut Neal after the 2000 season, then proceed to give Eddie George 315 carries for 939 yards and 3.0 YPC. Insane
McNair went 11-24 for 136 yards. But McCareins was targeted twice, he dropped both passes for at least 70 yds and a TD. Then you have Drew Bennett as your deep threat. Titans and their WRs.
Beside the classi "dropping the dime" post, I vaguely recall Bongo dropping ellipses about a strain in the Dinger and McNair relationship because Dinger "made a comment". He would never say the comment or the subject. He allowed people's imagination to go down the racial path.
Bongo's other post was about the Titans secretly working on a Pony package with Young, Johnson and White in the backfield. Not once did we see that formation in a game.
Gruden keeps talking about the defense getting tired. Camera shows the DL and they are calmly sitting on the bench.
I can understand getting winded in a noon outdoor game. But, they are playing in a dome with A/C and TV timeouts. Falcons had all offseason to work on conditioning for game one. I didn't see anyone breathing hard on the Falcons' bench. I guess if you repeat It enough, it's taken as gospel that the Eagles are wearing teams out with their scheme.
The Texans game yesterday was more than about the QB. With Watt, if the CBs are not doing their job or the LBs failed to win their matchups with the TEs and RBs out of the backfield, it doesn't matter what Watt does.
In typical, TR black and white viewpoints, adding Watt to the Titans without upgrading the defensive talent doesn't mean squat. Has nothing to do with the QB.
Ryan Mallet, Rob Johnson, Dan McGwire, Scott Mitchell, Ryan Leaf, Blake Bortles, Jeff George and the list goes on.....Arm talent does not equal success.
I'm hard on him because I'm tired of people continually thinking he's a starting QB. They keep seeing him have a 1-3 game stretch and thinking they can win with him. Only to be disappointed. I'll never understand how this guy can be so smart in practice and the film room, but make some of the worst decisions during games and especially the 4th quarter.
It will be funny if the Titans win, but Mariota throws for less than 150 yards.
The conversation between the MoFs and Titans' fans will be interesting.
