All of Musk's harebrained "product ideas" are irrelevant. With the cuts made, they can barely coordinate anything.

This is the kind of product launch to expect

Tesla and SpaceX can abuse their engineers because electric cars and rocketry are relatively small niches. If an engineer is motivated by the mission, there's not a lot of other games in town. By comparison, when it comes to globally distributed applications it starts with FAANG... Facebook, Amazon, Apple, Netflix, Google. Twitter was barely hanging with the big dogs. The recruiting sharks smell blood in the water and are already fighting over the remains. Salaries might come down during this recession, but no one is going to stay at Twitter. Folks will flock towards well established cash rich companies. There's also going to be startups with secured funding that just scored a once in a decade hiring opportunity.

As someone who builds distributed applications for a living, I can say with certainty that there is hardly any chance that they will ever successfully ship new features ever again. First you mentioned usability -- well, generally all the best usability people gravitate towards accessibility. And the accessibility team was fired en mass. Next up is technical/engineering. They got rid of half the engineers. That's a "halt product development and coast" move. There's not gonna be any new features. Frankly I'd love to see them remove the character limit. Arbitrarily increasing message sizes from a small, known constant sounds like a perfect way melt down a globally distributed database.

It’s shocking that the water fountains are running with rust only 25 years after construction. I don’t know anything about commercial construction but that certainly seems built to be disposable.

thanks that was an interesting read. Who the hell was the original environmental contractor? The state of the water and hvac sounds terrible.

My gullibility about what? The mainstream media perhaps? What do I need to red pilled or something to see the truth? Were you about to tell me something positive and complimentary about Nancy Pelosi?

what part of “Russian stooge attempts coup in the United States” fits under the bar of World War 3, from your perspective?

There’s still a folks around complaining about liberals but the days of Soxcat posting tweets from TENN_GOP on the hour every hour are thankfully past.

There was a lot of Trump stupidity from bot addled supporters and a lot of terrible Titans football around the time @Legaltitan decided there were better uses of his time.

Guess who is top of the list?

Saudis are raising the price of oil so that Putin can genocide all of Ukraine, and so that the GOP can install an authoritarian theocracy here in the United States.

It’s the Gagging On Putin party

This last wave has been broader than in the past, but it's not really anything new. I've been following Ukraine news daily since February. Russia regularly targets civilians and infrastructure. Nothing will change until they are militarily pushed from the country.

Has the anal bead speculation started yet?

Poker people in this thread... How big of a bitch is this dude who lost?

My wife just cancelled her subscriptions to The NY Times because they would print police press releases unchallenged far too often. Case in point - Girl, 15, in Amber Alert Is Killed in Shootout With California Authorities Read the article and it’s full of contradictory statements about the girl being a participant vs being unarmed. The headline though reproduces the initial police narrative hook, line, and sinker. There’s not going to be any follow up.

The darkest part of this whole war is that even in a loss Russian Army serves as a tool for the ethnic cleansing of “Russian” citizens. Putin doesn’t care if all the Crimean Tartars get killed.

I asked one of my co workers with family in Ukraine about how folks were feeling after the success of the counter offensive. They were feeling better... but the country still has been wrecked by the war. His partner had pivoted from running a travel agency to working an NGO. The news of the counter offensive was tempered by the immediate realization that all those areas need services that no one is prepared to provide.
