did the deficit go up under Obama….yes by a lot. So no lie. And the Reagan tax cuts did work, but the Democrat Congress spent above the benefits of those cuts.

Republicans have been lying that tax cuts would pay for themselves since the days of Reagan. Then Paul Ryan picked up the banner of the Laffer curve and supply side economics. Then in 2017, Trump, Kudlow, Mnuchin, etc. all claimed that their corporate tax cut would pay for itself. It was the big lie before the current one that the election was stolen.

And of course Obama cut the annual deficit. He did it along with the republican congress with budget sequestration that both parties agreed to. The annual budget was smaller when he left office than when he entered despite the lie posted above.

Protest not the same. And you know that if Trump had won, the left were ready. As for overthrowing an elected President, the left tried to do that starting before the oath, aided by Saint Barry, the fbi, cia etc

BTW, the Republicans also tried to eliminate Obamacare with no replacement at all

Of course Trump laughingly said he had a bill on his desk but his dullard supporters care more about a Biden gaffe than outright lies to fuck over people

 This is the real issue.

It isn't "Both parties do this......" That's not even close to accurate

The Republicans passed a horrible fiscally irresponsible Medicare bill under Bush totally unfunded that sky rocketed the deficit.

Anyone remember Bush and Cheney lying about a certain war(US taxpayers have reportedly paid an average of $8,000 each and over $2 trillion total for the Iraq war alone). This doesn't even account for how much it cost to destabilize the Middle East long term.

Trump's unfunded tax cut for the wealthy cost trillions. Almost exclusively for the wealthy.

How about the tariffs that fucked over the farmers? Trump just cut out some free money/welfare for them.

Clinton and Obama both reduced the deficit while the Republicans have went crazy with spending.

 Both parties my ass

Bullshit. But he is a better option for any conservative compared to the total shits of your party which after a few months are anathema in every way to core beliefs.

I am all in on DeSantis but if its Donald the ass vs demented joe or whoring bitch kamala, no fucking brainer...

Where were you railing about Trump's out of control federal deficits???

Inflation is pretty easy to control. The Fed has been keeping near zero rates for over a decade now because inflation was too low. If they think inflation begins to be a problem they can simply raise rates back to normal levels.

You mean just like the Trump administration was bragging about how many jobs they created a couple months after lockdowns started?

I agree it’s not fair. But life isn’t fair.

And the government set out money to be compensation to those landlords, so it’s not like they just let people stay for free. They ticketed $45B in rental aid. It’s just that the money isn’t going out (for whatever reasons).

There are many places that have taken a part of the police budget and put it towards sending in social services instead of an armed officer with plenty of efficacy. The problem is the narrative. It shouldn’t be about defunding the police; if anything it should be about funding our public institutions properly.

I think opinions of the eviction moratorium may shift towards the positive as the US slides back into another COVID emergency with the Delta variant. It's an emergency measure, for use during extreme emergencies, and we are still in the middle of an extreme emergency.

No one thinks Tannehill is the best player at his position in the league though, the QB is just the most important position on a team. So do you go with the guy at the most important position or a guy who is arguably the best in the league at his position?

Schumer doesn’t have the votes to pass a lunch order…

That aside, issues like this don’t alter elections. Politically speaking, this is a blip on the radar.

You know what gets people voting against the party in power? Millions of Americans getting evicted. Millions of new homeless people on Biden’s watch.

An extended moratorium is bad policy period. If congress wants to help those who need it, pass rent relief programs like the one D.C. did which will forgive rent obligations for eligible citizens due to the pandemic. Does anyone think those who stopped paying rent during the moratorium are really going to pay back the tens of thousands of dollars they may owe? Think about a family that has a rent payment of $1000/month and has not paid for 14 months. They would owe $14000 in back rent. Any chance they have the ability to pay that back over time? For the overwhelming number of Americans who qualified for the moratorium, the answer is no. But congrats to the democrats who won this small battle and likely contributed to losing the house as a result.

@tgo you’re way off base when it comes to the moratorium. Out of 45 billion dollars worth of relief to the states only 6 billion has actually hit its intended mark. Extend the moratorium for 6 months and figure out how to unplug the pipeline holding the funding.

Who cares if it’s struck down in the courts? That will take 6 months minimum.

It isn’t about saving face; it’s about taking care of people who got fucked on both fronts (landlords and tenants). Without that money already allocated to be spent you’re merely bankrupting the tenants and leaving the landlords footing the bill, which solves absolutely nothing.
