Yeah I don't really get all the handwringing. It sucks and is expensive to build a roster through FA. When you draft like shit for 5-6 years in a row, however, that's the spot your're in. The only guys that seemed kind of expensive relative to production were the Saints CB and the Giants WR. But those guys apparently were getting a lot of interest from other teams. Another side effect of being shitty for so long is that FAs aren't dying to be here. We aren't going to get any slack or any deals and perhpaps have to overpay a bit because all things being equal this is not a desirable location right now.

Exactly. They have stood the test of time and become iconic. Just like a logo should. BTW I am in favor of keeping the old flaming thumbtack logo. I don't see a problem with it and think we should stick with it. The new one is fine, and I'm just saying calling a logo simple or boring is not really a fair criticism of the logo because simple and boring is perfectly fine and perhaps even preferred to something that is overdone or too busy.

The comment about being corporate seemed to be about the whole branding. But even if it's just about the logo, what's wrong with having a simple logo? Less is more IMO. Unless your mascott is an animal or something it makes sense just to keep the logo simple. The Cowboys just have a star on their helmet! How boring! No one has ever said that.

Having a clean, classic uniform has nothing to do with being inoffensive or corporate. GTFO with that. It's about being classy and professional, rather than looking like a bush league arena team. The Seahawks managed to go bold and pull it off - their unis are cool. We'll see how they hold up in ten years. Even if it would be cool to go bold, the Titans have shown the ability to royally fuck it up. I would much rather have something clean that will hold up through the years so we aren't having to re-brand every fucking ten years. 49ers, Packers, Raiders, Browns, Steelers, Giants, Bills, Eagles, Cowboys, Dolphins, Colts. These have had subtle changes over the years but are all instantly recognizable. I'd rather risk being boring and be in that camp than look like arena league clowns.

It was pretty fair to say, years ago, be wary of OL, especially T, from SEC schools for various reasons. An overgeneralization but tons of busts. That shouldn't be a factor at all anymore.

Are these the same as the ones I said I didn't like? Because looking at these full unis I kind of like this, except for the rivalries one only because of the color of the numbers. But these would be a big improvement on what we have.

I would really like it if our new uniforms are not like something an arena league team would wear. The originals were already a bit that way, but people got used to them and they were fine. The latest iteration is hideous and ridiculous, from the different colors and stupid sword to the goofy and tacky font for the numbers. All things considered, you really can't go wrong by keeping it simple and clean. There's plenty of counter examples, but usually the best unis keep it clean and simple. And we have proven we will easily fuck it up if we get too fancy, so I hope to god they just keep it simple this time.

I am very wary of a guy that huge (Proctor) being an NFL LT, or even a tackle period. I'm not a draft analyst and maybe he is a freak of nature that is light on his feet but I have a hard time believing a guy that big can be nimble enough for a modern day tackle in the NFL.

For the record I don't think any coaches did any sort of amazing turnaround. My only comment is, the rookie QB go better throughout the season, and I think that's an indication the QB coach did a pretty good job.

Seems pretty simple. Cam showed marked improvement in important areas towards the end of the season. It's the QB coach's job to help improve the play of the QB. So we can only assume Hardigree did his job well.

There is absolutely no doubt that Belicheck is a first ballot HOFer and one of the greatest head coaches the sport has ever seen. There is also no doubt that he fragrantly broke rules and damaged the credibility of the game. Those things have long been a factor for the MLB HOF, but not the NFL. Maybe now things like that are being considered. He should be in. there's no doubt. But I don't think denying him first ballot access due to the damage he did to the integrity of the game makes the HOF a "joke" and completely illegitimate. The voters who voted against him getting in are wrong, but if they took into consideration his transgressions that doesn't make them stupid or crazy or a joke.

Alot of good reasons to do this, but one of the most damning things is that his dad was supposed to be the icing on the cake as the "best OL coach" in the NFL, and under his tutelage our OL has been historically terrible. Terrible talent evaluation and apparently terrible coaching.
