He's obviously the guy they want to be the target leader. That doesn't make him an X OR a Z, especially in this current offense where those 2 and even slot guys are swapping around and interchangeable and motioning with frequency. The fact that they don’t have anyone else capable of playing X makes Tate the primary X. Daboll may use some trickery and move him around some but he’s still the X. Maybe Ayomanor comes in on those plays as the X? titanruss

They do have a guy they want to get the ball more. Aka - nabors and Diggs... neither of whom are a traditional X. Also, When did we start to just give up on rookies after 1 year? Especially when they were in a clueless Callahan offense where we swapped coaches midseason and both groups were laughable. He might have improved zero amounts and suck ass forever.... or most every player on O would have been more productive with a better staff last year AND those guys all got valuable playing time and likely have developed some going into year 2. Clearly they want Tate to be the main target guy, but they also do t have traditional positioning like you are used to - ergo - there is likely no every down X
Starkiller
Ayomanor is a backup. At best. Regardless, you can talk all you want about there isn’t an X receiver in Daboll’s offense but he literally the only competent receiver on the roster who can fill that role. You can say it’s not a traditional X, but that’s the role he’s going to overwhelmingly play this year. OILERMAN, Callidus, and DCTitan

That guy needs to be able to best press. Sure you can move everyone around and I dont doubt tate will play the Z and slot at times. That however does not negate the fact that ridley is not a press beater. Robinson can do it but that is not the best use of his abilities. Ayo can but you cant trust him to put his shoes on right let alone catch the ball. Dike hasn't shown the ability to do it in college or the pros. Tate is the only guy who fits the X mold on this team and since you need someone lined up out wide on the line every play that will predominantly be him and semantics on what you want to call it are meaningless.
