Tight end possibilities

I was thinking that tight might not be as big of a priority early, but a number of mocks I've seen lately have the Titans taking one in the 3rd. Whether that be Sam Roush, Eli Stowers, Max Klare, or Justin Joly.

The Titans have met with Stowers, Roush, and Joly so clearly there is interest there and if Daboll plans on running a lot of 12 personnel and Bollinger was brought in strictly to be a blocking tight end then they'll need to add a guy.

But who fits the role best out of the four mentioned above? Or would it be within the realm of possible that if we trade back from 4 (12-15 range) that Kenyon Sadiq could be an option?

I'm all about Dallen Bentley if we are going for a 4th round or later TE and want a guy that can contribute on almost any down.

Good size and athletic profile, 45 catches and zero drops last year. Great as a pass protector and only average as a run blocker but has the size and work ethic for it.

Seems to be a ton of athletic TEs this year but not sure many can block at all.

Roush supposedly did well in his local workout here with the team. He's 6'6", 267 lbs, and ran a 4.7 in the 40. Also, he's a computer science major so his IQ is probably fairly high. And the cherry on top is he's a Nashville native.

Negatives are he doesn't have a good CTC rate (40%) for being so tall and his drop rate was 12.5%. Idk what the story is there, but those are some rough averages. Stowers isn't much better though with 41.2% CTC, although the drops were better at 6.1%.

Bently didn't have any drops but his CTC is pretty horrendous at 23.1%. I mean, if we're going by drop% and CTC% then Klare has them all beat. He's just lightweight. Pretty much a Gunnar Helm clone. Seems like we'd want someone beefier opposite of him.

TE is certainly a possibility a lot earlier than we expect. They're bringing them in for Top 30 visits. Essentially, you can get a receiver for much cheaper at this position. I made a post a while back about the importance of an elite TE in today's NFL. It softens up defenses like crazy, and for the right schemes, it's a get a first down trump card.

Safeties, LB, NB can't take the TE and guard against a 5 yard run at the same time. Look back over the last 30-40 years at the elite TEs who won SBs.

Not really sure what they are looking for at TE in terms of Daboll’s offense. Would they want a receiving only TE like Stowers?

They clearly have some interest if they are bringing TEs in. I’d assume they want Bellinger and Helm to be the #1 and #2 (based on how much they are paying Bellinger).

It’s hard to tell what they are doing here.

I just wonder if they see Roush in the same vein as Kelce/Gronkowski to some degree. I'm sure they don't see the rest of them that way, but Roush is pretty much the same size as Gronk. And Borg had a front row seat to what Kelce has meant to Mahomes.

Not saying Roush is those guys, but he's being projected to go around the 3rd/4th round, same as Kelce. Maybe Borg sees something in Roush, or one of the other guys.

Ya  anything like that is jumping the gun, but he does have a good profile for mid round tightend target. Big with a high ras, good production, already a plus blocker, went to standford never hurts.

As much as I want Tate, if they go with Love or trade down and draft a guy like Cooper maybe it signals they want to build the offense between the hashes first and foremost. Love or Cooper, drafting a guy like Roush, and building out the IOL (they'd do that anyway) all would insinuate that.

And who knows? For all the talk about drafting a receiver, maybe they have higher hopes for Ayomanor at X than any of us do. The guy certainly looks jacked this off-season and if he can become more of the guy he was when he torched Travis Hunter a couple years ago then more power to him.

I wouldn't put to many eggs in the ayo basket. Maybe he can turn the corner but guys who are volatile as he is seldom become dependable starters. It could happen though.

I hope they dont wait till day 3 to add someone at wr whoever it is.

As for drafting a tate, boston, hurst, or whatever bigger outside wr you want vs a guy like cooper. Not sure how much that tells you either. You have to have some kinda perimeter game to keep the defense from cloging up passing lanes over the middle. That or be able to stretch the hell out of the field vertically.

Stowers is a phenomenal athlete. Good size and great hands. I wouldn't have a problem with taking him, particularly if we trade back.
