Culpepper fell hard but I don't think it was like this, and certainly not for the same reasons.  I think teams figured out how to stop Culpepper.  That and, probably more importantly, Randy Moss went to Oakland.  2004 was his best year and he fell after that when, probably not coincidentally, Moss went to Oakland.

 

Culpepoer completely fell off a cliff. The guy was absolutely incredible his first 5 years in the league. Sure you have to handicap him a bit because of Moss who made every QB better. But Daunte was absolutely dominant. You have to give him credit because he really cut down on his turnovers after a few years & went from more of an explosive thrower & runner to just an MVP level dual threat superstar. He did completely blow out his knee, all 3 ligaments & was traded to a Miami team that he very little on offense & than Detroit when they were historically bad. But still, total nose dive.

 

Also, I can’t find it anywhere but I’m almost a 100% certain that Miami & us each had trade parameters worked out for DC & he chose the Dolphins iver the Titans. We then obviously picked VY. I know this was the case but it’s never mentioned anywhere.

I never heard that one.  It could’ve happened but that’s the first I’ve heard of it.

 

As far as Culpepper, I thought he was the next Randall Cunningham.  They had similar playing styles and builds.

It's a combo punishment. Punishment for the Browns as a whole, but also punishment for all those people wanting Sanders to start. There's multiple angles to consider.

Look at the pics beside this thread.  In college, he raised up his expensive watch after big plays.  The NFL probably told him to quit.  SO, he just raises  his arm with the wristband.  His father is famous for pointing at the GL and running back TDs.  So, like father like son.

 

He'll most likely start game 2, then sink or swim.  If they lose because of him, the show's over.  The Browns have sucked for a considerable time.  The fans want some kind of excitement, even if it's a showboat QB.  What have they got to lose?  

 

If you remember the Nashville fans boo'd Steve in the home open.  He did a McNair trademark.  Hurt and drug off the field.  He stretched out his back and when he reentered the game.  BOO!!  Lots of Titans fans didn't like him because of the style play the Titans ran with him QB'n.  Plus, this is Nashville. Steve won them over by his play on the field.  I remember Frank saying, "Duh, in the huddle we couldn't figure out why they were booing."
