It's hard to say Dems are better at governing when they mostly just fight amongst themselves and do almost nothing.

But at least the few things they accomplish aren't malicious and actively hurtful, so they win.

There were numerous huge things passed and done under Biden

59% of republicans want the ACA credits extended.

The people in charge of government - Republicans - easy.    Just need the moronic Dem leaders to stop talking about "leverage" and shit. The messaging should be very succinct, and very simpl

@tgo you continue to overestimate the electorate. Most Americans are stupid and not plugged into politics. They aren't as informed as you are.

The existential threat to democracy angle doesn't resonate with them nor will red rural America wake one day and stop supporting Trump. Look at farmers. He fucked them over hard-core in his first term a d they mostly voted for him again.

We are cooked as a Nation. Right wing media and the billionaires have taken over. Nothing to do now but life your life and hope the fever breaks at some point or that the next Trump doesn't captivate the masses.

That's my point though - they're not plugged into politics - but they'll start feeling the affects when a lot of them don't have jobs or food to eat. Maybe your premise is right though - I am admittedly tired of caring about the well-being of a large swath of people who don't have the sense to care for themselves.

I just can't wrap my head around why Dems would make themselves complicit in the actions of this federal government by voting in favor of funding it, under any circumstances really, as the minority party.

I wrote a paper early on in college about why the filibuster should be eliminated - my opinion hasn't changed over the years. Make them eliminate it.

The filibuster is the reason for a lot of the problems that wrought the rise of Trump in the first place.

Income inequality is accelerating.  If Dems cave here, the ACA is  toast.  Medicaid will be next.  The social security trust fund running dry isn't that far away.  AI killing job creation is just getting started.  The lower class is getting screwed.  At some point they will respond.

This is a good article about AI and democratic socialism.  Pretty much what I was getting at above.  There is going to be a reaction.  AI is going to be the next big issue.  Might be a couple of years, but it's coming.

What evidence is there under the current conditions voters will reach a breaking a point and vote their self interests?

So basically the Dems cave and give Republicans what they want or the Republicans will brute force it and own it and get what they want.

End result is the Dems get some blame or it's all on Republicans. If it's going to happen either way.... make them do it.
