Well for anyone who cares to read this, here are my (lengthy) thoughts now that I’ve had a chance to sleep on it.   I’ll start by saying I'm not sure I've ever been more hyped for an episode

I loved the fact that Theon won his fight cause he has no dick. Haha

, so Reek may not get a big part.

Don't want to go into detail to avoid spoilers, but I think some scenes have made it abundantly clear he WILL have a big part.

Best not to say anything else.

I think that is the reason they have gone on and on with the torture of Theon. They want to make sure the audience understands how he was broken down, and make sure they don't forget him and feel sympathy for him.

I don't believe it's as black and white as some people think. The Others represent ice and the Fire god is self explanatory. There will obviously be a penultimate confrontation between the two ideologies however they do not represent Light and Dark in my opinion. Both come across as evil. Also, It's not clear whether Daenerys and her dragons are in league with the Fire god or not. I tend to believe the final confrontation will be between her and the Others.

I don't think they are in league. But dragons may be naturally aligned with the fire god...

And I don't disagree that it is automatically simple good vs evil. But the Others do seemingly want to wipe out humanity, so that seems kinda clearly bad (speaking as a human). But the red god is less obvious, even though Melisandre is clearly set against the Others and seems to know they are rising.

In all seriousness that is more likely to be a factor than the torturer giving two shits for Robb Stark.

Bolton has already changed sides. I don't believe Stark has anything to do with why Theon is being tortured. You may also find it interesting that the Show tells a much different story on what happens to Theon at Winterfell. it's another example of how the Show varies from the books.

????  I have read the books twice and watch the show.  I aleady know the differences.

I've read both and while the show glosses over alot the upshot is the same.  Theon takes over.  Pisses everyone off.  Kills beloved guys that he grew up with.  Fake kills the stark boys.  Plans to hold ground at Winterfell against overwhelming odds knowing he will die.  Ramsay with Bolton warriors come and take Winterfell back and imprison Theon.

There was a large part of it left out, yes.  If you are using this to support your prior argument I still stick to what I said - many things, sometimes pretty big ones, have been changed in the interest of combining characters, simplifying storylines (for the better, IMO - god knows Martin doesn't understand brevity) and making the show more appealilng not only to viewers, but to a much larger audience than the books are directed at.

But at the end of the day they have not yet changed, and I believe will not change, major things critical to the theme and plot of the books.  They are rather working dirctly with Martin to be sure they are in line with his vision and plans for the series.

Glad we agree on Bolton, though.

I just rewatched the episode.

I bonded with Walder Frey

His amusement in watching the massacre is similar to mine when posters feed on each other.

Oh yea, and when Oman is being owned at every corner of the board and is feebly trying to stand from the onslaught, I will mutter: Ahhh...the King of the Board arises!"

Season Finale = Blah

Crowd surfing to cheesy music? GTFOH with that.

It was always going to be. Especially with what happened last week. Maybe they should have left the red wedding for the finale. They need to save something for next season because not not hell of a lot happens in A Feast for Crows
