What did change was the assassination attempt becoming divine providence creating even a more mangled mythos inside of his own demented mind, which is extremely dangerous. We've never faced this kind of thing as a country or a world. The US will never lead the world again, which sucks, because the future with China being the hegemon is some 1984 mixed with Brave New World shit. People want to say that everything is projection... but really everything is a pre-emptive defense. What Trump's team is great at is pre-emptively blaming the other side for anything they could say against Trump. So once they start calling trump out on something, it deminishes it and becomes a "both sides" issue. Biden had his issues and he was obviously slowing down but no where near what Trump is showing. imo the Trump team knew it and they pre-emptively attacked Biden for it so any attacks on Trump for it would be weakened. And it worked. And you can just go down the list of things Trump has done this w/. Then if they actually caught him on something he'd aggressively accuse the other side of doing it to the point where his accusations overwhelmed theirs. It's actually a little impressive tbh.
