He's stayed pretty consistently in the middle at any current time in politics. Bernie pushed him left last primary and he's had to stick to that to keep the left support.    I agree though t

We all saw what happened.  There were crimes committed as evidenced by the convictions.  And its obvious that the intent of Trump's mob was to stop the inauguration of a duly elected president.

Watching the d day ceremony this am and it makes me sick we could elect trump who has no respect for our country or institutions. Whether you like Biden or not, the grace, humility, and honor he's dis

Covid related deficit spending made sense it seems, but the trajectory of the national debt is problematic.  I'm hoping in his second term Biden and his administration make the difficult decisions that redirect government spending to a more reasonable and sustainable 10 year path as a percent of GDP.  We can't just hope to grow our way out of this gap, and the integrity of the US dollar as the #1 trade currency should be maintained.

First get rid of years of tax cuts for the wealthy, then look for reasonable budget cuts

Some of the articles / podcasts I've taken in over the last few weeks have really set a low bar for Trump in the upcoming debate, especially focusing on his behavior after the trials and all his losing + his weird rally rants.  At this point I'm concerned that if Trump can just compose himself enough to answer half the questions, he'll far exceed the low expectations.  Just a reminder -- this is for the president of the United States, and most people's expectations for these guys are lower than a mid-tier city councilperson.  yeesh.

Republicans have been telling their rubes that tax cuts for the rich will produce greater revenue than before the cuts dating back to Reagan.  It's their whole trickle down scam.

Trump, Paul Ryan, Mnuchin, Kudlow, etc all sold this BS in 2018 when they cut the corporate tax rate and gave everyone else the table scraps to sell it.  The deficit exploded.

Now in 2025 the individual cuts expire and the corporate cuts remain permanent.

Revenue is part of the problem, but spending needs to be addressed. period.

To be clear, revenue is most of the problem statistically. That isn’t to say they can’t cut some things that are wasteful or inefficient, but most of our federal debt would simply not exist if not for GOP tax cuts over the last 45 years.

Meanwhile, Biden just has to show up and not be senile and he will effectively be the “winner”

This is an incomplete projection, as deficits occur in a dynamic.  And solely blaming the federal debt on GOP tax cuts is laughably disingenuous.

Again, I’m not “solely” blaming the debt or deficit on tax cuts. But it is statistically the primary cause if we are talking about revenue vs spending.

Sure, we could save a fortune by eliminating Medicare and Medicaid or shutting down the pentagon. But realistically there’s no way to cut spending in any realistic or practical way that would make a real dent in the debt.

Fuck all that noise. What we really need to do is elimate the federal income tax on corporations, put in a massive array of tariffs, and blow up the entire global economy!

Every one of you ran them through the mud and called them traitors. Lol. They were the best of us, and they proved it by sacrificing their careers over their morals, and yet people on the left eviscerated them for serving their country with dignity. Now, you want them out front to champion your cause. They didn't do it for your cause, and many on the left are just completely incapable of understanding men like this or why they won't stand with you.

I don't think this is really accurate. They seem to both be well regarded now and not have their livelihoods damaged by serving in the Trump administration.

They both wrote books that were very popular and Mattis has been on the board of companies.

Where is this coming from?

President Biden has a comfortable lead over former President Trump among voters younger than 30, according to a new poll.

The CBS News/YouGov poll found 61 percent of likely voters younger than 30 surveyed support Biden while 38 percent support Trump. These voters are more likely to say abortion, climate change, and race and diversity issues would impact their vote than those older than 30.

Fifty-seven percent of young voters said abortion is a major factor in their vote, 54 percent selected climate change, and 52 percent chose race and diversity. By comparison, half of those 30 and older said abortion was a major issue, 37 percent listed climate change and 36 percent picked race and diversity.

True. The massively bloated and wasteful military industrial complex is the other main culprit.
