Bongo59
Hiring a staff does not matter for roster construction. They do not buy the groceries. They coach them.

TeamRamrod
Brian Callahan is going to be the first ever one man coaching staff. Incredible feat.
BudsOilers
Wilson could easily be in line for the Ravens gig or maybe even go with MacDonald.

rns90
It’s been mentioned but given how most of the defensive staff has been nuked, it’s probably unlikely /distant possibility that Bowen is the dc.
BudsOilers
The flip side is that FB shows like the Athletic and Ringer were raving about the Titans ability to run combo coverages and contain some of the better offenses - during the Bowen tenure. KC and Cincy games come to mind and they've always had a good plan vs Lamar.... Not sure how it all plays out but Bowen isn't the window licker some on here make him out to be. Only the LB coaches. DL/Secondary guys all intact.

Williams isn't getting fired in the middle of coaching at the Senior Bowl. Retaining him wouldn't be a bad thing.

The back 7 was pretty bad and kind of slow if you think about it. Fulton had decent speed but he sucked for different reasons. Whomever was playing FS wasn’t up to par. I don’t think Vrabel nor Bowen are idiots so they had to have a reason to play that soft defense and it’s probably personnel. And the penalties were a big factor. tgo
I'd be fine retaining all the remaining defensive coaches, although I'd like to see another new voice in the secondary room to pair with either Harris or Booker.
titanruss
2 hours ago, BudsOilers said: The defense wasn't below average this year..... But 2020 had zero pass rushers and awful CB/S play. It's why they were so awful on 3rd down. As awful as they were in that category, they actually were only 24th in PA. Not a Bowen apologist but you guys are acting like he's Jerry Gray or Chuck Cecil. BC did say he wanted the kind of Defense that gave him fits as an offense. Bowen and our defense was that kind of D. There's also some decent history with what we've had here of giving top passing offenses issues with scoring points. Not across the board or consistently, but Chiefs/fins/Bengals all had some big issues at times with our D.
