It would be much more reasonable than to completely ignore the position. I could see only very few RBs getting in, but it's hard for me to envision 0 which is what it would have to be for Henry to not get in. He's getting in. Unless he decides not to play anymore or gets injured he will struggle through for several years and accumulate stats. If he gets with a team with a good passing game and decent OL he might even hit the 1200 yard mark for another couple years all but solidifying it. Fair or not, there's set criteria they use and if you relax the criteria, then you open it up to every candidate that falls into that group. That's where the 12 K mark comes into play unless you have some extraordinary things on the resume that Henry doesn't have and is unlikely to get. You let in Henry with less than 12 K and then you've got to account for the cluster of guys in that 10 K - 12 K range: Fred Taylor, Corey Dillon, Tiki Barber, Eddie George, LeSean McCoy, Ottis Anderson, Marshawn Lynch. As stated, I do think 2021 was a real blow to what he could have done to lock him in. Jamalisms

He's getting in IF he gets the 12 K mark.....If he doesn't, it's a hard precedent to set because it opens up having to deal with Taylor, Jackson, Dillon, and McCoy specifically and maybe even Lynch. ctm
Aging players, including RBs, get hurt more frequently. It's part of the calculation on whether he makes the HOF OILERMAN

We've been over this a million times now. I think you're correct it will take 12k. If he doesn't get hurt over the next 6 weeks he'll need 2500 or so yards over the rest of his career. He's getting in. Edited November 29, 2023 by IsntLifeFunny
Titans279
If Henry gets on one of these lists for the 2020s then he could be a lot higher per that legends site too 15 points per 1st Team All-Decade Selection 9 points per 2nd Team All-Decade Selection 12 points per general All-Decade Selection (no 1st or 2nd Teams designated) IsntLifeFunny

If he keeps up getting 1k yards for a couple more years he should at least be 2nd team though for 2020-2030. Titans279
IsntLifeFunny
I also could see them give him the per-general all decade player if he keeps putting up stats for a couple more years. That foot injury in 2021 crushed him being an instant 1st ballot HOFer for being the only player with two 2k seasons. He has to know this is the case I would imagine. More years in the decade where guys in their prime could overtake that.

If he looks for a big contract then he's likely forgoing the HOF as the expense because he isn't getting it and then won't be at the top of the FA list where teams are filling holes before the draft. There's really no cost that makes sense to give him carries over Spears while Spears is more versatile and on a rookie contract. Other than fan sentiment, it's stupid. Justafan
The Titans will need another RB to pair with Spears, regardless. I can see Ran returning Henry as long as the contract makes sense. I can also see them wanting to adjust cap allocation to other positions and deciding Henry isn't the direction they want to continue building the roster, not because of him but because of how they want to build the offensive line. Right. I like Spears and maybe the knee turns out to be no big deal but I'd rather have him split carries and not have to find out. Whether he's splitting carries with Henry or cheap veteran/ rookie doesn't matter. Justafan

The problem will be if Henry would be OK with having the carry split reversed.....where Spears is getting 70% of the carries. Extremely doubtful. They can find a Chestnut type in the draft or undrafted FA.... Edited November 29, 2023 by BudsOilers Justafan, and LongTimeFan 1

You can make a case for Marshawn, but he has a case to make for himself and doesn't need Henry. I think you're overstating any problems with Henry getting in. It's very clear what the criteria is without multiple 1st team All Pro's and/or MVP's/SB wins....
