Pure nonsense.  Byrd, Gore and Fulbright were liberal Democrats to name a few.   In fact the more Republican the South has become, the less racist.

“Libertarian”   LOL you fucking suckers

They're 100% centrists at the least by international standards

Yeah, Honda Civic owners have no taste…

My wife lost smell and taste. Said she has some sweet and some salty but that's it.

I know a guy who got civic early on and he's never gotten taste and smell back. Says he dreams about food.

THAT would suck.

Long Covid scared the hell out of me before I ever had it the first time. People losing their sense of taste and smell for a long time (or permanently?), respiratory issues, chronic fatigue, headaches, dizziness, joint and muscle pain… and never knowing if you might ever go back to normal? Freaky shit.

Yeah, I know another person with long COVID who's just exhausted all the time. Lost her job.

Sorry to hear that about your wife. As someone who loves to eat, I think that would be really tough to deal with.

Absolutely horrible. Debilitating.

My wife and I caught it in early 2022.

My wife was a puddle for about a week then totally fine.

I was a puddle for about 10 days. Tried to power through work, and once the worst of it cleared, I literally couldn't remember a good chunk of that time.

For about 4 months, I had the mental fog in a bad way. Had to have physical post-it notes everywhere, leaned into recording meetings and using stupid ass OneNote just to get through the day.

The most frustrating part was the impact to my speech. Every other word seemed to be stuck to the tip of my tongue. Almost 2 years later, I still get tongue tied or combine/flip words when talking, which had never happened prior to Covid.

Anyway, really nasty shit that impacts people very differently. Hope the recovery goes well.

That's crazy. I hadn't heard that symptom from people before. It's really strange how the same virus would impact people so differently. I know some guys that are barely phased and others that have never been the same.  I was sick for about three days and then I was good. It did impact some of my workouts and runs for a while, but I eventually got past that too.

I've heard of the brain fog from quite a few people. Really hard to describe.

I will say, it also took me about 6-7 months to get back into my full workout routine. I was just sucking wind no matter how hard I pushed or recovered.

The only other person that I've heard with the speech/language piece was a coworker that had an English degree and was functional in about 3 languages and then moved into corporate work.

I'm not on their level so I may just need to be tested for a mini-stroke!

Not trying to start a new pissing contest, but I am curious as to people's thoughts on this opinion article. Trigger warning, it's from NY Post and is heavily slanted. I'm not trying to make a statement about climate change or anything like that but am more curious about thoughts on how people view the free market, libertarian ideas, and if Javier is the disaster early on that they thought he would be.

The “free market” is just empowering corporations to run amok.

Governments are supposed to serve the people (at least any democratically elected government). Corporations only care about maximizing profit. That doesn’t mean socialism over capitalism, but for any form of capitalism to thrive and benefit the people the government has to regulate the market.

There's a youtuber named Physicsgirl who use to travel around the world explaining different physics phenomena and doing experiments and stuff. Lots of cool stuff. She got long covid and has been bed ridden for over a year. She's the only person i follow and support on patreon.

Out of curiosity, and I think I probably know the answer here at least partially, what kind of government intervention do you support? Tariffs? Fair employment practices? Fair trade practices? Protectionism? Full government planning and control of the economy?
