Trump Indicted By DC Grand Jury

Some movement at least, even if there’s no way to complete a trial before the election.

The Supreme Court’s landmark ruling on presidential immunity — a breathtaking legal victory for Trump’s bid to sideline his criminal prosecutions — had kept the election-subversion case on ice for months. Even after the July 1 ruling, the high court’s rules required a one-month delay to give prosecutors the chance to ask the justices to reconsider the outcome.

On Friday, that window closed. The case was returned to the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals, which took just minutes to send the matter back to the courtroom of U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan, who has been in a holding pattern since December awaiting the outcome of the immunity fight.

Some Trump critics have urged Chutkan to hold a hearing to assess the effect of the immunity ruling on the evidence Smith intends to present. That proceeding could feature witness testimony from key figures in the case.

Trump opponents hope this “mini-trial” would showcase Trump’s ties to the violence that unfolded on Jan. 6, 2021, and remind voters of the most chaotic day of Trump’s presidency, even if it doesn’t carry the same stakes as a jury trial.

What Trump has done is much, much worse than Nixon. No comparison.

Was Hunter indicted?

There needs to be a strong deterrent to this happening again.

In a new twist in the federal election interference case against former President Donald Trump, special counsel Jack Smith has submitted a mystery document, hidden from the public and Trump's lawyers.

The filing was made in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, where Judge Tanya Chutkan is overseeing the case.

A Wednesday court notice shows that Smith filed a document titled "Government's Classified, Ex Parte, In Camera, and Under Seal Notice Regarding Classified Discovery," a formal way of saying the Department of Justice (DOJ) has submitted a confidential document that contains classified information in the case.

A federal judge on Friday gave lawyers for Donald Trump four days to challenge the partial public release of a nearly 200-page special counsel filing on why the former president can be criminally prosecuted for his efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 election.

In an order posted on the public docket of Trump’s criminal case in Washington, U.S. District Judge Tanya S. Chutkan gave Trump until noon Tuesday to dispute the government proposals on what to disclose and keep secret in its massive filing, and until Oct. 10 to object to similar proposed redactions in four attached documentary exhibits. The filing is a key part of the criminal case alleging Trump illegally attempted to overturn Joe Biden’s electoral victory, and it was expected to reveal new details of the evidence investigators had gathered.

Prosecutors said the main filing could include roughly 90 pages of new and previously disclosed facts explaining why Trump should still face trial after the Supreme Court’s landmark decision in July that gave presidents broad immunity from prosecution for their official actions.

Watch this masterful interaction.  Bet most of you groupthinkers won't even watch this interaction because you honestly don't care about truth.  But even if you keep rejecting truth, I will expose the dangerous precedent that the DOJ has started.  Today it's Trump and tomorrow it may be someone you support.

This is an idiotic comparison. Trump’s crimes that he has been indicted for weren’t tied to an act of war. And no other president (that we are aware) has committed the crimes that Trump has been indicted for.

You're right.  Errors on your loan application is a greater evil than murdering hundreds of thousands.  The fuck was I thinking... my bad.

How many times has Trump been indicted by a jury of every day Americans who heard all the evidence?

Errors? It’s called financial fraud. And we aren’t talking about penny ante shit, we are talking about hundreds of millions of dollars worth of fraud. You don’t accidentally make errors in the hundreds of millions of dollars…

And yes, presidents give orders that kill lots of people in a war. That didn’t make it a crime.

Tried and tried to explain to some of you... if you don't know about the real estate business and the loan process, try to learn before spouting nonsense. I'm not saying you can't have an opinion. But try to familiarize yourself with the process before condemning.

Btw, Leticia James has been very vocal about getting Trump for years before any of these indictments came out.  If you knew just a little about real estate and you don't think this is a kangaroo court, you're blind.

Errors should always go both ways. When the benefit is always one sided, it’s no longer errors, but rather a pattern of abuse of rules, laws, ethics, etc. Arguing otherwise is either unknowingly obfuscating or spinning disingenuous bullshit.
