flaming_thumbtack Posted December 20, 2022 Report Share Posted December 20, 2022 I really don't think we'll miss the playoffs, but if we do, I would be very curious to see how we move forward. If Jacksonville beats us out and TLaw continues to look good, I would wonder if a new GM would want to try to retool this roster to compete or if they may look towards a rebuild. You don't get too much time as a GM, so wasting a year or two trying to compete with a flawed roster may not be as appealing as building your own roster. Ultimately, our course of action is mostly very similar. We have some obvious cuts and obvious roster holes to fill whether we are competing or rebuilding. The variable between the two options is RT. We could probably trade him for a 2nd or 3rd to a team that is a QB away. I am very against trading him, but it is certainly more likely of an option than it was 3 weeks ago. It's also worth noting that if the GM is just a puppet for Vrabel, we probably know what the course of action will be. I mention this in the Draft forum because it is looking like the Bears will be sitting at number 2 without the need to take Stroud. If we end up rolling into pick 10-15, we could probably put together a fairly competitive package to move up. Again, I don't think we should, but it is at least an option that they would be more likely to consider if the roster continues its collapse and we miss the playoffs.
