Well... he's right though.

he knows what he's talking about and what good leadership is. You can bash mariota as a QB But no one outside of some media guys and a couple of butthurt team cuts said anything bad about his leadership. Everyone else praised it constantly

I've been hard on Mariota but even I have to admit that when the playoffs were on the line nothing could stop Mariota from playing.....lol, just kidding. A real QB plays in that game without hesitation.

Leader.....lol

Art Smith was in on ALL those offensive meetings while Mariota was here. And he was his OC. He was witness to all of that horror with him under center.

I just can't, for the sincere life of me, understand how he could be OK with the Falcons bringing that loser in there. I mean, he's gotta be the worst QB since sliced Vince Young, right?

I will say that Mariota can be mitigated by designed play calls, practiced playcalls. Where he falls short is when the OC gets into the deep part of the book where he's required to make decisions on the fly.

Of course, this is what separates an average to below average NFL QB from "good QBs" but Arthur can rebuild the culture there and mitigate his deficiencies with play design.

As a coach this buys you more time, a one to two year extension to find your guy.

There were other guys available that could've filled that role. Why'd he have to go get the one guy that would've absolutely sunk his HC job prospects had he been left in as the starter for the rest of the year?

I think my favorite thing is Mariota going back with Smith being framed as a good thing when the biggest Mariota homers blamed the Titans for ruining him. Smith was the one consistent thing here his whole career.

Totally obliterates that talking point.

He didn't say he was the best QB he's been around. It was more disrespectful to Mariota than it was to Tannehill.

I'd argue Mariota is a better QB than he is a "leader"

How many guys who left the team like Murray etc... talked about how he needs to take control be more vocal etc...., then before his first playoff game players were talking about trying to get Mariota motivated.

The guy is a weirdo and the opposite of a leader.

His teammates root for him much the same way teammates cheer on a kid with down syndrome running with the ball on a staged play
