The NFL has an Uber/Lyft program that gives out free rides for players who are too intoxicated to drive. If he was too lazy to do that, then Vegas is one of the easiest places in the world to find a cab. The fact that he didn't consider his own promising present and future, chose to jeopardize it and killed someone. His only purpose now is to serve as a warning to others. His first year here, when he was hitting the bars a lot, Lewan's then girlfriend (not his present wife), sat at the bar sipping club sodas and was in effect his personal designated driver. I just don't get how these guys do this. They have access to multiple people who are fucking sober to drive them home (Uber, taxi, girlfriend, part of the entourage) and yet they choose to risk their lives (and others) and careers just because they are too lazy or stubborn . I've represented a lot of individuals in intoxication related offenses (DWI, DUI, Intox. Assault, Intox. Manslaughter, etc.) at trial and on appeal. The common theme for nearly all of them is that they engage in self-deception and convince themselves that they are not too intoxicated to get behind that wheel. This is true even if they do not meet the legal definition of intoxication and are not guilty of a criminal offense. People need to realize that It really does not take much alcohol and/or drugs to impair your ability to drive. Your so-called tolerance doesn't mean shit, the intoxicant (alcohol or drugs) is still affecting you. A split-second reduction in your reaction time means all the difference in the world.
