nine Posted April 3 Report Share Posted April 3 Ever since 2016, I’ve stated on several occasions that my biggest concern with Trump is that he’s too dumb and narcissistic to realize when he’s being played, lied to, and manipulated by other people. We’ve seen this repeatedly with Trump and Putin: virtually every time they had a meeting or phone call, Trump would soon follow up with some new action and policy that made very little sense or benefit to the US…but that was very much aligned and beneficial to Russia’s national interests. We saw this again with the whole Elon Musk/DOGE fiasco: Musk convinced Trump to provide unlimited access to all sorts of sensitive government financial data and records and was given free reign to slash departments and reshape the federal government in whatever way he wished….as long as Trump got all the credit. But the most obvious and glaring illustration of Trump’s gullibility is this whole Iran war fiasco. Iran has no nuclear weapons. But even if they did… Iran had neither the technology nor the means to strike a target on the other side of the world. Sure, Iran hates America….but hurling sticks and stones in the Middle East is hardly a justification for war, At no point did Iran ever present any threat whatsoever to the United States. But despite having no real threat and virtually zero benefit or upside for the United States….Netanyahu, Hegseth, Graham and others got in Trump’s ear and convinced him he needed to go to war. Trump’s stupidity and gullibility is no longer just a problem for Americans to deal with. This time his stupidity has had a dramatic negative impact worldwide . It led to US-friendly countries and allies being targeted with missile attacks…shutting down critical shipping lanes and supply chains….throwing global oil markets into turmoil and jacking up fuel prices all over the world. Trump has also managed to alienate America’s allies and caused those relationships to become severely strained…and has potentially even laid the groundwork for WW3 should Putin decide to use this turmoil as an opportunity to take Eastern Europe, as many fear. All because the Man Who Would Be King is an easily manipulated dimwit who refuses to acknowledge his own mistakes or accept any responsibility for his actions and decisions. And if that happens, I could see manu of the more moderate Republicans turning their backs on him. They’ll keep quiet and ride that Trump/MAGA train for as long as it benefits them…lest they risk incurring the wrath of the Mad King. But the minute things start getting shaky and the Trump train looks like it might be coming off the tracks….they’ll save their own skin before letting him take them down with him.
