Protests in Cuba

El Guapo

Recommended Posts

We will see what happens. Not optimistic. Hard to protest a Communist totalitarian regime without guns. Maybe the army will refuse to fire on their own people but doubtful.

I am waiting for any comment from Bernie, AOC, Talib, etc. Voting rights, freedom, etc. you would think they would be all over this but just silence. Understandable since they all have affinity to that government.

Fuck castro and all the sympathetic lefties in this country.

It's like they are talking about you or something @El Guapo

So if Bernie, AOC, etc silence on the protests makes them communists, then what does silence from you and the majority of the right about the Jan 6th insurrection make you?

1328 convictions on a database that goes back to 1982?   Seems like lottery odds.

"We stand with the Cuban people and their clarion call for freedom and relief from the tragic grip of the pandemic and from the decades of repression and economic suffering to which they have been subjected by Cuba’s authoritarian regime,” Biden said in earlier statement on Monday. “The Cuban people are bravely asserting fundamental and universal rights.”

I saw that the mayor of Miami is calling for US intervention.

Not sure I'd go that far, especially since most of the people of Cuba wouldn't be receptive to it, but I hope that somehow these protests will grow and produce results.

Gonna disagree with this premise. The primary purpose of a government is to protect the inherent rights of citizens, which the government in Cuba has never done. But yeah, it needs to be changed forcefully.

That’s only the purpose of a Democratic/Republican government. Lots of people are perfectly happy to live under authoritarian rule as long as they like the way things are being run.

To me, it's the purpose of any government that isn't mortally flawed, which is why the American Democratic Republic is best system of government ever devised, imo

The President of the United States already expressed solidarity with the people of Cuba. Fuck the squad. They are NOT the bread and butter of the Democratic Party.

That's what you far right people don't understand.

WTF does the squad have to do with anything here other than El Quapo's propaganda-addled mind jumping to crazy conclusions?

It may be the best form of government, but there are plenty of countries around the world that have authoritarian rulers and they are still governments.

They make themselves (and thus the rest of us) an easy target for fodder that affects elections, that's why.

You don't think Cori Bush shitting on America on the 4th of July won't come back up next November??

As silly as it sounds, they are a total lightning rod

Sure, but by natural law - are inferior governments that shouldn't exist. Humans have the inherent right to govern themselves, but whether they protect that right from usurpers is up to them.

“God given rights” aren’t granted by god. Our rights are granted by government.

If we have a king then we need to either choose to live by the rules set by government or we need to choose to revolt. Any government can be overthrown if the people are willing to risk their lives and their security. If you live under a popular, benevolent ruler who has reasonably taken care of his people then they aren’t likely to try to overthrow him. If you live under a power mad dictator or poverty is rampant then you are more likely to revolt.
