ctm
Day 20.... Former President Donald Trump appears to be toying with a Republican lawmaker who has ambitions of becoming the next GOP speaker. Punchbowl News' Jake Sherman reports that Rep. Tom Emmer (R-MN) had a phone conversation with Trump on Saturday in the hopes of talking about reported reservations Trump has about letting him become the most powerful man in the House of Representatives. But just two days after the call, reports the Washington Post's Leigh Ann Caldwell, Trump gave his allies the green light to take Emmer down. "Trump has directed his allies to hammer Emmer, according to people close to Trump," she writes on Twitter. "As of last night he was likely to stay out of it. While he might not say anything, he’s asked his allies to." Trump allies early on Monday morning began trash-talking Emmer to Politico's Playbook, with one MAGA Republican telling the publication that Emmer is "openly hostile to Trump." https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/trump-tells-allies-to-hammer-gop-speaker-hopeful-right-after-talking-with-him-report/ar-AA1iIj4Z?ocid=msedgntp&pc=HCTS&cvid=9467e3fe67c8413a84a7450e44e33188&ei=14 This is why there is a problem. Anyone acceptable to Trump isn't going to be acceptable to the few moderates (18) who are from districts also carried by Biden. Starkiller
https://hongkongfp.com/2023/10/24/us-republican-senator-jeff-wilson-arrested-over-carrying-gun-into-hong-kong-barred-from-leaving-city/ A US state senator has been charged with possessing arms without a license after he was found with a revolver at Hong Kong airport. Jeff Wilson, a Republican senator from Washington state, appeared at Shatin Magistrates’ Courts on Monday following his Saturday arrest. He was released on a cash bail of HK$20,000 and ordered to hand over his travel documents and not to leave Hong Kong, local media reported. Wilson is scheduled to appear at West Kowloon Magistrates’ Courts next Monday. Carrying arms without a license is punishable by up to 14 years in jail and a fine of HK$100,000, but cases heard at magistrates courts see a maximum jail term of two years for a single offence. OILERMAN
The Republican party is extreme right wing. It's not fringe it's who they are on the whole. IsntLifeFunny, MadMax, Starkiller, and 1 other

It became a pretty big news story here. It was nice that they didn’t want to be associated with the extremists. Franklin is pretty red and not nearly as liberal as Nashville, but it isn’t rural TN. reo

IsntLifeFunny
With all the war stuff going on it's been under reported/discussed what's going on in Texas. They're about to criminalize even associating with illegals in the state. They want a mandatory minimum sentence for people who travel with undocumented immigrants. They refused to even allow an amendment for the victims of rape to go to authorities because they will immediately be deported. Absolutely diabolical. Fuck the GOP. It's beyond all reckoning of logic and morality. I saw where a Democrat said this could lead to a priest being given a mandatory sentence for fulfilling his duties to Christ. Made me pause and think about the layers of hypocrisy. No one is saying the border isn't an issue, but this state by state patchwork is not only inhumane it's wreckless and disturbing. Assuming they are included in these new laws, it will be interesting to see how business owners react.
