The GOP infighting seen in the House is a feature not a bug across the US in today's Fight Everything gop. The effect is internal strife for strife's sake and shitty government for the constituents

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — After Ohio Republicans bolstered their statehouse majority last year due to their dominating showing in the midterm elections, they split into rival camps over who should lead the lower chamber.

The division between younger, more impatient conservatives and more traditional ones was only settled when Democrats crossed party lines to end a standoff over who would become speaker of the Ohio House.

Since then, despite their power over all levels of state government, Ohio Republicans have been convulsed by infighting as party leaders censured everyone who had voted for their new speaker, Republican Jason Stephens. Amid the divisions, the Legislature managed to pass only 10 bills this year.

“Childish would be my word,” said Republican state Rep. Sara Carruthers of her colleagues who persist in opposing the speaker or refuse to attend caucus meetings. “We’re on the right path, doing the right things, wanting to get good legislation passed and he’s helping them do that. And then, bam, it blows up.”

From Columbus to Phoenix to the halls of Congress, the Republican Party has been stuck in a prolonged internal conflict, with power struggles and primary challenges becoming as much of a GOP staple as tax cuts and tough-on-crime rhetoric...

Scalise defeats Jordan in conference vote 113-99.  His name will advance to floor vote.  Republicans defeated a rule change to require 217 votes in conference.  This almost assures multiple votes on the floor for Scalise or someone else to get to 217.

The big question is how the fuck did Jordan do that well in the first place?! can't all be Trump effect, or is it.  Here comes the political show vote as much for the personal branding, bargaining, and Fox news hits rather than getting on with it.

Scalise (113) + Jordan (99) =  212  It's unclear whether the remaining republicans were absent, voted present or for another candidate.  But those few votes could be critical to getting to 217 and that's assuming all of Jordan's voters switch to Scalise, which is probably doubtful initially.

NY repubs looking to solidify their unexpected 2022 gains by flushing the turd in toilet who can cause them damage next year in potentially Biden friendly districts.

New York House Republicans will introduce a measure to expel Rep. George Santos (R-N.Y.) from the legislative body, Rep. Anthony D’Esposito (R-N.Y.) announced Wednesday.

“Today, I’ll be introducing an expulsion resolution to rid the People’s House of fraudster, George Santos,” he wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.

D’Esposito said the resolution will be co-sponsored by fellow first-term GOP Reps. Nick LaLota, Mike Lawler, Marc Molinaro, Nick Langworthy and Brandon Williams, all from New York.
