Hmmmmmmm. Seems like McConnell got the better end of the deal, but I do like the bipartisan backroom deal-making.

Let's give Biden the benefit of the doubt and chalk it up to a draw! :D

These are terrible numbers for a sitting president. A third of his own party doesn’t want him to be president anymore.

Which makes sense given his age. But it also makes him the likely Dem nominee in ‘24.

A lot is going to depend on Trump. If he's the nominee Biden is the favorite. If someone else is the nominee I have no doubt Trump will attack the Republican and might even run 3rd party and that would likely cause Biden to win.

Either way, Biden wins.

McConnell gets a lifetime judge for maybe few US Attorneys that likely won't be around very long anyways. And the other judge is still a senior judge who can be assigned periodically when the need arises.

McConnell is the big winner here if this goes through.

Biden is weak. He should get way more if he’s going to be making deals like this.

Eh, it’s not as lopsided as progressives are making it out to be. It’s definitely not perfect and McConnell wins the deal by a bit, but it’s probably worth it so that Garland is all systems go at DoJ.

It’s definitely lopsided, but the timing of it is what makes the optics way worse more than anything.
