The thing is, he clearly should be able to sell assets to raise the money. He owns enough real estate.

I wonder if he wants the state to start taking his properties (rather than selling them) for the purpose of political messaging. It isn’t really a rational decision, but who knows with Trump.

Interesting point and let's him play the victim role, which if I give him credit for one thing he's damn good playing the role of a whiny little bitch.

Oh, he loves to play the victim. That’s why I could see it as fitting with his normal MO even though it otherwise wouldn’t make sense to just let the state take your properties.

I read some interesting stuff on how Trump filing bankruptcy could really hurt him in the election. There is a history of public sentiment turning on celebs who file Bankruptcy. Don't know exactly how that would connect to Trump politically but it was interesting

Take all the cash and equivalents first and impound the accounts. That will be easiest and a good place to start.

Potential underwriters are seeking cash to back the bond, not properties, according to Trump’s lawyers.

Hard to blame them for not trusting Trump to come up with the cash or being unwilling to use properties as collateral when you were just convicted of getting fraudulent loans by lying about the value of those properties.

This entire affair reminds me of Enron.

It's hilarious that he can't get a bond to appeal the ruling that he lies about the value of his properties bc he lies about the values of his properties.

I would assume they could get their own evaluators to value the properties, but maybe that would just take too long.

He'll bitch and complain no matter what. You were right that in terms of his ethos of being the victim this plays well for his sanity. Poor Trump the billionaire conman.

As per usual…Trump spends months grandstanding and blustering about how his assets were greatly undervalued and his wealth is far greater than the court records indicate.

But when forced to substantiate and back up his bluster by providing something that is tangible and real, Trump once again fails miserably.
