Popular Post Jamalisms
Quote ...those who express more resentment toward African Americans, those who think the word 'violent' describes Muslims well, and those who believe President Obama is a Muslim have much more positive views of Trump compared with Clinton," Klinkner found. Moving from the least to the most resentful view of African Americans increases support for Trump by 44 points, those who think Obama is a Muslim (54 percent of all Republicans) are 24 points more favorable to Trump, and those who think the word "violent" describes Muslims extremely well are about 13 points more pro-Trump than those who think it doesn’t describe them well at all. --- The biggest predictor of Trump support among Republican and Republican-leaning voters was a belief that "the growing number of newcomers from other countries threatens U.S. values." Republicans holding this belief felt 18 points more positively toward Trump, on a 100-point scale, than Republicans who didn't feel this way. Belief that Islam encourages violence, and that it's "bad" for the country that blacks, Latinos and Asians will someday make up the majority of the population, accounted for eight-point jumps in positive feelings toward Trump. --- Identifying strongly as Republican, being male, being older than 50, and not having a college degree were also predictors of Trump support. Old, uneducated White people, especially men, who distrust or actively hate minorites are the supporters of Trump. Factually. Shocking nobody. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/wonk/wp/2016/06/06/racial-anxiety-is-a-huge-driver-of-support-for-donald-trump-two-new-studies-find/ IsntLifeFunny, tgo, TitansFan777, and 11 others 11 1

StephenIsLegend
Yeah, it figures it would be the demographic set in their ways and filled with hate. They generally don’t have an open mind when it comes to anything new or different.

Well fear also plays a factor for a lot of otherwise "decent" people, and human nature is such that fear devolves into hate unfortunately. As Yoda would say: "Fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate, and hate leads to suffering" Fear can often be a biproduct of lack of critical thinking skills and lack of education. And what Trump and this Republican Party is doing, is weaponizing fear for political gain and power. tgo
There are plenty of people out there who are just rotten to the core, but I believe that some folks would be better served with a leader who discourages their baser instincts and provides a message of inclusion and optimism rather than fear and a promise to return to the distant past and rather than one who foments division and hatred. Its kinda similar to someone being assaulted and everyone being too afraid to jump in and protect; instead they watch and hope someone else intervened. Why not not title it what it is. Which is trying to enforce the law? I guess since there are a lot of blacks in jail, it's proof white America fears them. Not because they committed crimes. AmIright? This is about a lot more than illegal immigration. The staunch stance against undocumented immigration to the point of cruelty and family separation is birthed out of fear and racism, which is also manifested in many other areas of this administration, including the Muslim ban and hateful speech to minorities including African Americans (see Charlottesville and the blind support of police officers in all situations, who have committed crimes against black people due to race). Starkiller
I suspect you could have made this poll years ago and the results would be pretty close to GOP support pre-Trump, too. Its not new with Trump, just more extreme.

Titans279
This stuff goes way back to the Tea Party (which largely shifted to become Trump's base) and turned on people like Justin Amash. And another book from that time.
