When I got into Cardano it was around .10 while BTC at the time was around 17K I think. It’s safe to say that my ROI as of now is bigger with Cardano than it would have been if I put that money in BTC. Obviously they have gone up and down more than each other at different points so the individual cost basis tells a different story than just that very simple math. I wish I put a lot more in at that point compared to a couple weeks later making most of my gamble when the prices were like 25-30K for BTC and like .20 for ADA Edited March 1, 2024 by wiscotitansfan abenjami
wiscotitansfan
But at the end of the day the only thing that matters is what the prices are at decades down the line when I retire and convert it to USD. its not like I went into buying any crypto thinking it has much practical use for actually spending like a regular checking account
Supdawg
I hope you don't plan on bag-holding ADA until retirement. It will over a long time trend toward 0 in BTC terms.

wiscotitansfan
The point still stands that putting a couple thousand bucks into something years ago and then the price of pack of smokes a week from each paycheck isn’t really worth actively managing more than transferring that money to my Trezor. With how high fees are for some currencies along with how volatile everything is, I’d much rather just do nothing and get whatever percentage I’ve been getting from staking. Sure, it may end up “trending towards 0 in BTC terms” but unless I actually lose money, I don’t really care what BTC does because I don’t ever see that getting as high as the BTC fanatics do while also expecting ethand ada to at least hold its own enough for me to not care about the the differences. abenjami
I think it's funny how one of the original selling points for bitcoin (and every other crypto) was that there aren't any transaction fees. Yet every time I use bitcoin to pay for something I get charged a transaction fee, not to mention I get charged transaction fees to buy or sell it. I honestly would buy more BTC regularly if the fees weren’t so outrageous compared to Cardano… as of now I can just make purchases and transfers each paycheck so I don’t mind paying a few cents on those $30 transactions. I haven’t looked into what it would cost with recurring BTC purchases and transfers but you really would need it to go to the moon and other currencies be stagnant just to make up the percentage difference in fees. Supdawg
Haha, we just hit an ATH yesterday, nuked like 15%, and then Dalai lama'd 20% up. There was another 650M net inflow from ETF products yesterday. Saylor announced another private raise of 600M to purchase more BTC yesterday. Blackrock filed to have BTC ETF added to their Strategic Income Opportunities Fund (11B AUM). Even I am not bullish enough..... Read this! Jamalisms
Here's a dumb question for the people that are heavy into crypto ... does the industry have it's own lobbyists? It feels desegregated enough that I'm sitting here at the moment and thinking maybe there's no organized lobbying effort, which seems a huge missed opportunity. Does one exist and how is it funded?
