Where does DGB rank as Titan Bust at WR?

Everyone says he was second behind Amati from the WR drafted ahead of him.

Lets not forget

Kevin white missed entire year

breshad Perriman missed entire year

Devante Parker missed half the year

Dorsett was buried behind Hilton, Montcrief and Johnson and had a noodle arm QB throwing the ball not taking advantage of his skill

Devin Smith missed the entire year didn't he? Or did he just bomb out? I remember an injury

He didn't bust for us.

Britt didn't really bust either, that knee ruined him.

The answer has to be Hunter. And it's only really a bust to Titan fans. He was pretty irrelevant to the rest of the football world when we picked him. Wasn't as if he was a top prospect like Britt was.

Sounds like all those guys have been busts so far

We have a list of some WR that all were downright bad or flashed but never prospered.

Kent

Calico

Hunter

DGB

would you include Britt?

i would think DGB takes the cake

It's been our legacy. We couldn't even sign a FA WR without it turning into a train wreck.

DGB was a bust, come on.

Showed up this year out of shape.  Pulled his hamstring.  Got buried on the depth chart by a rookie and two old men.  Got shipped out for a mediocre OL.

Don't let the door hit ya where the Lord split ya

And if he turns his career around in Philly and becomes a good WR is he still a bust?

It may never happen, but it's too early in DGB's career to write him off as a bust. Plenty of WRs have taken years to pan out. And all of those guys had far more playing experience in college than DGB did.

But if he does pan out in Philly, that would be a serious indictment of the Titans front office and coaching staff.

Not necessarily.  He apparently lost the respect of his teammates, and I'm sure some of the trust from the QBs.

If he finds success down the road in Philly or elsewhere it probably means he finally grew up and decided he wanted to put in the work and earn that trust and respect.

Sometimes with young people it just takes a little longer to mature.  That doesn't mean their first employer needs to wait around for them.  Hopefully this was a kick in his ass that he'll use, and remember.

Guys don't be bitter. You all know you would be pounding your chests too if you had predicted this.

I pretty much did right there with Jamal and Kyle and I honestly don't think it's a big deal in the least

I doubt that but I'm not surprised you would think this.

No, he's right.  I was there in the chat.  Right after he got picked Kyle melted down and listed all the things he heard (or knew) about DGB.  There were some rumors of major drug use as I recall.

I had always thought his catching technique sucked.  He usually didn't make his catches at the height of the ball but instead almost always waited for the ball to reach his chest.  I had hoped he would grow out of it, but he has other technique issues as well.

This is the excuse I expect to hear from posters who are loving this trade right now and ignoring the fact he's been given all of one year to mature as a Titan.

Most people thought he already got that kick in the ass when his college team cut him.

We'll see what happens but as I have said a couple of times today, Philly doesn't appear to be a good situation for a guy like him.

You see an excuse.  I see facts.  Aren't you the one that posted the tape of all of his targets last year?  If you were throwing the ball and knew he struggled with routes, positioning and catches, how much faith would you have in him?  The evidence is all over that tape.

Not in the right spot, not getting his head around, and then hit him in the hands and he drops it.

Sorry, but that's not an NFL level receiver, but he was a rook,...

So this year he comes to camp having the same simplified playbook as everyone else, for the same length of time, and he doesn't know where to line up.

Not good.

Then the reports of drops everyday out of camp.  Fails to release downfield on a go-route in the first preseason game, playing lackadaisically at best.

Not good.

People thought a lot of things about DGB.  2 OTAs, 1 rookie camp, 2 mini-camps and 2nd TC and he's still blowing plays others are making, and the evidence is right in front of you.  What we thought doesn't appear to be reality.  I was dying' for the kid to succeed.  What a monster he could be if he used that massive frame, long arms and leggy speed the way he should consistently.  The guy would be freaking UNstoppable.  Tell Mke Evans and Julio Jones to take a back seat, DGB's in da house.

Didn't happen.  Dammit!

Needs yet another kick in the ass.

I don't think so either.  Between the lack of QB talent and the nature of Philly Phans, I think he's Screwed.  (Note the capital "S").

But hey, that's just me.

We'll see.  But even if he does pan out in 3-4 years, that still shouldn't reflect badly on the Titans.  He just wasn't ready during his time here.

Basically what I'm saying is that giving up on him now is too soon IMO and it would make more sense to give up on him after year 2 or 3.

The more I think about it, there has to be something we don't know or don't fully appreciate behind this decision.
