Titans sign Rishard Matthews to 3 yr deal

The Titans should be more attractive to him for three reasons:

1. Money--this is by far the biggest reason; let's not kid ourselves.

2. Young QB-- Brady isn't what he used to be. The Patriots are still a good team, but Brady is showing his age, while Mariota is brand new. Matthews could develop with him into something interesting (though DGB is most likely going to be our top WR at some point)

3. Competition--Matthews comes in as a starter right away. He's instantly our 3rd WR, and after this season, he could replace Wright and be the number 2 guy. There's an outside chance he becomes the number 1 guy, depending on DGB.

Numbers 2 and 3 are distant reasons compared to 1, though.

He also turned down Brady and the Patriots to sign with the Titans.

Facts are facts, Sox.

This is far from an absolute. Teams, locations, and contracts all play a part.

Matthews ran a 4.45 and 4.50 at his pro day. I'm not concerned about his speed. And he's probably going to start. The question is whether it's DGB or Wright as well. All 3 will probably play a lot. Seems like all 3 can play x, y or z as well. Dig the pickup.

I'm gonna make a prediction here:Joe Horn. The older guys will remember him, he was a fast, athletic guy who played very hard in KC & made some big plays, but for some reason just wasn't featured very much. So he signed with the Saints & had a great run with them right off the bat. Matthews isn't as fast or explosive but might be stronger, I see some similarities, though Horn is more talented.

Crazy how 3 of the top 4 are receivers for the Seahawks.

Wilson led the league in passer rating I believe, so it makes sense

Wilson, what a scrub!!!!

So what does Mathews do well? I know he played phenominally for MIA given the situation there. Is it just a jack of all trades player? Similar to... a poor mans Steve Smith or DMase?

quick, decent hands, decent route runner. I don't think he's a burner but he's definitely a good third receiver with upside for more.

I can get behind that, is he good enough to be the go to guy (besides Delanie) when Wright is gone next year?
