I don't know why people keep saying Mettenberger's numbers were skewed because of garbage time, the only game where this was the case was his 1st start. Even then the kid had no chance with all the OL penalties in the 1st half.

Thanks for setting me straight, it didn't really hurt my point though. They had losses of 7-30, 10-42, and 3-17 plenty of garbage time in there.

Bridgewater only played in one of those losses (3-17). Cassel was the starter in the 7-30 game and Ponder started the 10-42 game,

Yup, in the games Bridgewater started, they had 6 losses and only lost by an average of 5 points per game, including losses by 2 points, 2 points, 1 point and 3 points

I can't believe I'm saying this since I'm so pro-Mettenberger but I'm starting to get worried here. Is Mariota this great a QB prospect that a half a dozen teams are in a bidding war for him? Is he just too good to pass up?

No way

I think given the teams history of botching top ten picks, they went the distance with their due diligence on most of the projected top 10 picks, which included both QBs. It's a very interesting draft scenario with all the purported "interest" in MM by other teams so the Titans staff had to prepare for any scenario. If they truly believe they got the steal of the draft in Mett, then it makes sense to be fairly aggressive in FA (which they were) and try to bring in BPA talent in the draft. I think the staff has done a pretty good job pre-draft this year.

If this is true it is great news they have such faith in Mett but damn there goes our carefully crafted smokescreen to generate trade interest.

IMO anything that muddies the waters is good right now. Team might start to get nervous if it looks like we like Mariota too much to part with him.

Maybe.  It might make teams feel more the need to compete with each other for that pick.  It also might raise some eyebrows for Williams if they think he might be gone at 2.

Nothing so far has been a definitive answer as to what the Titans are going to do, and it's about as clear as mud.  If other teams don't have a great deal of confidence as to what happens with that 2nd pick, it might make them a little more antsy to make a deal.

Then again, it might not.

It sure seems like we are moving in slow motion towards the draft though.
