NashvilleNinja
Just curious as to where everyone falls in this debate. Which one of the options most accurately describes your feelings, especially if this lockout extends into/interferes with the upcoming season? Hyperion
I love the game too much. I'm not one of these dramatic idiots who has been obsessed with sports and the NFL and now preaches how they can find a different way to spend their time because of a potential lockout. Quit lying to yourself.
Starkiller
I'll still watch the games, but I gave up my tickets.

Number9
I'll still watch the games, but I gave up my tickets. I am keeping mine. But I think more and more people are going to not pay. I had a friend call and offer some upper PSLs for just a little money. I have asked around, but no interest. EZ about 30 rows up. Guys who post here are fanatics, so they will all keep their interest. But the casual fans might drift away, especially Titans fans where the team is probably going to lose a lot of games. I would love to see a grass roots movement of the fans to boycott NFL gear and concessions. The fans are the biggest force in the NFL and the NFL has convinced us we have no say in the matter. They can get more players, they can get more owners, they cannot get more fans.
prometheus
Guess I'm just one of those crazy diehards who will put every bit as much support for this team as previous years, and maybe even more so due to the circumstances that the coaching staff and the players find themselves. Probably won't spend money buying team-related items, but probably would not have directed my fixed-income moneys there in any case. I am hoping to sell about half of my single club level tickets and parking passes to the home games this year, but again, that has nothing to do with the lockout or the craziness that the team has been going through (VY, JF, etc). pro
HOTT
I have a hollow almost empty feeling about it all. I am a devoted fan or the game and this franchise but some of the old fire is lacking at this point. I would guess that most of it comes back but I wouldn't guarantee it. Justafan
It's annoying and I wish they would all just stop being so damn greedy so the people who are paying for it all (us) could enjoy football. I think it's absolutely ridiculous on both sides. Having said that, i love the sport so much I know that I will always watch as long as games are being played. Even if the season doesn't happen I will still be hopelessly obsessed with college football.
freakingeek
I love the Titans. I love most sports. I'm a Titans, Vandy and Preds season ticket owner. Come the fall, my true loyalty has always been the Titans but this lockout is totally motivated by greed and I have no patience or compassion for it. My time and my money are valuable commodities to me. I'll still watch and attend games IF theres football but if not, no big deal. The players and the owners haver totally ignored the fans throughout this process. Screw 'em.
SuperFreak90
It will end soon, so my attitude hasn't changed. What makes me mad is how much greed and ego is involved.
Guest
I was a mssive baseball fan who used to catch 150 games per year minimum on TV or in person, and I never felt the way about baseball after the 94 lockout and probably haven't seen 150 games since... but I think there was far more to that situation in terms of how it came back (economic disparity between the teams, steroids, killing the expos) then it was being just about the strike. I went back to hockey right away after the last labour dispute and I actually thought the game came out of it stronger though it screwed the Leafs since under the old system they could outspend everyone (but they still managed to never win it all). So I guess the point is it's not so much about the lockout as much as what the game looks like after the lockout. I don't see any material change to the on field product or competitive balance coming so I imagine I'll be there as always when they get it on the field again. Of greater threat imo to the long term integrity of the game is the constant rule changes.

abenjami
I would love to see a grass roots movement of the fans to boycott NFL gear and concessions. The fans are the biggest force in the NFL and the NFL has convinced us we have no say in the matter. They can get more players, they can get more owners, they cannot get more fans. I posted about this on TC a couple months ago. My idea was to boycott all of the NFL sponsors (Pepsi, Budweiser, Coors, Gilette, etc.) and those who advertise on Sundays. It would be pretty simple. If Budweiser continues to sponsor the league and run commercials, we all start drinking Miller Lite. Gillette keeps running ads for their razors, we all stop buying them and use Schick razors instead. You can boycott NFL gear and concessions but the truth is that wouldn't really hurt their pocketbooks. They make so much money from the TV contracts and other revenue streams it wouldn't matter. The league makes its money from the TV contracts. The networks are willing to pay the league billions because of the ratings the league generates, which means the networks can sell premium advertising space. That's why you attack the 3rd party sponsors/advertisers. Get them to recognize advertising with the NFL is really going to hurt their product sales, and they'll stop. That would hurt the league big time. The fans should be a big force but presently we are a complete joke.
