Didn't the Texans have the ball 2 or 3 times with a chance to go back up 14 once the Titans scored and still Johnson didn't do anything? I think the Titans adjusted nicely on defense after the early 14. They gave up 10 points the rest of the game to a high flying offense (the other 14 points were scored on pick 6's). They got to 14 points in the first quarter on their third drive, I think. The defense held them and we were within a TD for a long time before Hass blew the game open. The SD game was a true blowout from start to finish and the Titans had no chance at any point to really make it a game. The one positive was that Houston did not really run the ball that well except for on the first drive and after the outcome was decided. Don't think for second they didn't target him just because we had a lead. Gray said the primary focus of the gameplan was stopping Johnson. That's why we gave up yards in the middle of the field. The offense also are the ones who gave the Texans a big lead. The Texans really didn't gash the defense with their run game either. Personally I'm glad to hear it from Gray. I've been saying we've been playing soft since last season. I said it this season. NO ONE fears playing the Titans. I'd rather see them get penalized and/or fined for a great hit than Harris holding or Big Country ripping a players helmet off. Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

cenj Posted October 5, 2012 Report Share Posted October 5, 2012 Poor word choice...but he's right. Griffin's response made sense too, and seemed a fair response. Problem is, it's too rational. It's an insight into how some of the defenders think, or to be specific, are thinking out there too much about non-football matters. Griffin basically admits he pulls up from laying the wood because he doesn't want to get fined or get a 15 yd penalty. That's a major problem and watching how Griffin plays, it makes total sense why he has been so bad playing the ball in the air/missing the tackle on some of those passes. He really is pulling up. He's the veteran of the DB group, and that's a terrible mentality to have in your most experienced and perhaps most talented DB. Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

When we had guys like Blaine Bishop, Lance Schulters, Fat Albert, Bulluck, Finny, KVB, people feared our defense.Nobody is afraid of playing us. How about you coach better, and how about we get better talent. These are just excuses made by Gray so he doesn't have to admit he is the coach of a terrible defense.
