That team wasn't very good. It took their free agent spending spree in 2025, an easy schedule and Maye improving for the record to get better. Also I think Kraft would've looked bad had he not kept Mayo for the one year because he already had a deal as the head coach in waiting. We all know how Kraft thinks about his image over everything else. I'm sure Vrabel was well aware of that and told he could interview if he wanted for other jobs.
