He's a slot only guy who won't be a true ST player. If you recall he was being cast as merely a hanger on because of Ward who was pathetic at football. He isn't. He is a guy that hangs on a PS until he gets a chance, which is more than a lot of guys in the league and doubly so for someone with his stature.

Also, anyone that really believes he's slow is an absolute dullard. He has as much functional speed as any other WR in the NFL. If he really was a 4.83 receiver Borgonzi wouldn't even have bothered keeping him on the PS last year.

 

To think that's how an NFL roster is managed really calls into question the expertise of some analysts.

He's NFL slow but so were a lot of slot guys in the NFL. They made him out to be something he's not, which is a guy that can't hang in the league unless it's being gifted. That's not true. He's a talented kid. I bet he makes it on the roster sometime this year and on a 53 at some point. 

 

Either way, dogging him like they did only for him to shine when given the opportunity in TC and preseason shows the judgement was off. Maybe he never does a damn thing and is Mason Kinsey for the next 8 years making a cool mil a year. Who knows, but the kid can play the game.

Oman said earlier he"ll either go back on the PS ... or be picked up by some other team. Those words "or picked up by some other team" never would have made it past his filter this time last year. He sees it, even if he doesn't want to.

You must have a very loose defination of functional speed.

The people, Mike Herdon, who have Restrepo making the 53 have the team keeping 7 WRs in order to fit him in. 

 

Let's use some common sense here. 

 

He wouldn't be active on game days. He also wouldn't be Robinson's back-up. If he was hurt Dike and Aymamor are playing in the 3 WR sets long before Restrepo ever saw the field. Remember it took like 4 injuries last year to get him activated last year. 

 

So instead of taking up a 53 man roster spot it makes way more sense to put him on the practice squad and if he was ever needed they could bring him up. 

 

He's likely assuming the Mason Kinsey role. Although Kinsey plays STs

Seeing one of the resident dullards trying to label others with that is clearly the most offensive thing in the thread...

 

Being Mr. August is meaningless unless you can find a way to earn legit roles on offense or on special teams.

 

Frankly I have my doubts they'd keep 7 WR's considering they will be reliant on running the ball.  6 with a 4th TE/H-B type would make more sense IMO.  

 

FWIW the Giants with Daboll had 7 WR's for a time in 2022 but went down to 6 early on.  In 2023-2025, they carried 6 WR from the get go.

It's an accurate definition. But I if you're basing your entire opinion of the guy on one busted ass 40 yard dash and ignoring 2 years of game film of record setting reception and yardage performances I'll understand you not quite getting what I mean.

 

 

 

I mean... I suppose that could've been a mirage. Maybe in all that time at Miami ALL the defenses the Canes went up against deployed corners and safeties who ran at least a 4.84 or worse in the 40 for XR to be able to put up those record setting stats. It is the ACC, after all.

Revisiting:

1. Levi’s got dead. I get that. Hooker got on PS.  I thought he was awful. If CW and MT take bullets, team is DOA with Hooker.

 

2. Chestnut sent Mullins to PS. I doubt this one is over.

 

3. X won. X lost. X is PS. Surprised that team favored 3 others over BO on PS.

 

4. Off the roster to the NYG. The Deculus signing never made sense.

 

5. The decision here to go off roster was more surprising- but it probably should t have been when they added Saunders and Tasi mid camp. 
 

6. Truman Jones got sacks. He has some bend and some speed. Good for him.

 

7. Well Maui’s with injury designation was a surprise. I was less surprised that they think they can upgrade with a waiver claim over 44.

 

8. Secondary depth was and is nonexistent. Two waiver claims are bandaids - but likely better than preseason room.

 

9. In the end the answer was none and it’s really hard to disagree. 
 

10. They kept all 5 TEs in a form. I suspect we will be seeing a good deal of 13 personnel sets.

 

my biggest surprise was that I was pretty close on this stuff. I think that’s a testament to the podcasters who cover the team. Their reporting influenced the questions. 
 

the roster is set for week one. But it’s the NFL, so expect more churn - particularly in the secondary - I think the Achilles heel this season.

Agree on the secondary.. in fact, Kiper's 2027 mock has the Titans taking a CB with the 6th pick in the draft..
