The Man and his Private Coach?

First we know Cam is The Man to take us on our next run.  He's not falling apart.  I believe he takes us to the Super Bowl!  Kurt Warner Study Ball on Cam Ward above talks a lot about the positioning of his body and feet.  

 

He's been training with Colbert two summers I think.  What is Darrell Colbert teaching him?  Footwork and body angles?  Every time I see excerpts of the training, it's the long ball.  I have never seen him address any other areas or faults.

Rome wasn't built in a day (offseason). Footwork is fundamental, but Cam has had to enter each of his first two offseasons with a new coaching staff/system. It's the Titan way, apparently. Footwork focus may be an ill-afforded luxury for now.

 

Hopefully offseason #3 can see them attacking those flaws once he's comfortable in the offense.

I don't keep track of QB personal coaches but I would hope whoever this guy is has a proven track record of helping QBs improve in the specific areas Cam needs. 

 

I kinda doubt that's the case, which is unfortunate.

His notable client list consists of Cam, Shedeur, and Pavia...

 

Posted last year he needs to go to someone with a proven track record. A QB coach isn't a guaranteed fix, but you've gotta turn over every stone. Even Levis at least went to Jordan Palmer. Like @Number9said, I don't ever see Colbert actually coaching him on any sort of mechanics in these videos. Think he's even gone on record about letting "Cam be Cam".

I don't expect people to have time to view all these, but this battle with Carlos Mendosa is great.  Footwork is okay.  Interestingly his short passes look good, especially his touch.  @OILERMAN  will be excited by the play of Restrepo, a.k.a. ReSlowmo.

 

I think the speed of the NFL game is taking more adjustments, especially on his short passes.

Right.  He needs a consistent message.  This is his third NFL HC and Saleh is more into killing QBs.

Cam's footwork is concerning. Poor play recognition, lack of confidence in the pocket, and holding the ball too long (aka hero ball) are more concerning. 

 

I think he's got the talent and ability to fix all of this -- so long as the coaching staff has the nuts and the ability to confront him about it. How do you "get to" a guy if he doesn't think he has a problem? Cam doesn't have the arm talent, speed, or processing speed to play like he's been playing. He needs to learn to use intelligence and guts as a competitive advantage instead of physical gifts that got him to this point.

The transition to playing under center is new and difficult.  Add a poor OL and the difficulty increases.

No those are excuses. This is not his first year. He's no where near ready to be a contender.

He was a WR too.. so not sure why he's supposed to be any good at teaching QBs.

Personal QB coaches and team QB coach usually work in concert with one another.. qb coaches obviously by rule cant officially coach 365 so they will send stuff to work on. A big issue is the three changes at coach that he's already experienced

This is the concerning play out of all of them. He scrambles outside the tackle box instead of stepping up and to the left or right. He has to get that or he'll never be a franchise QB. That's now the most worrisome part of his game in my opinion.

I watched that whole game live. The only reason Miami needed to come back in the second half was due to Cam making some of the most brain dead throws I’ve ever seen, including his patented run to the right sideline and throw to the left hash that got picked off for a touchdown. Lol.
