Just clarifiying the record.  And speaking of pot shots......the polls have always shown that the public blamed the republicans.  But when they narrowed slightly but still showed the public against the republicans, you tagged me saying essentially that you were right that dems were going to be blamed.  Remember that post?  Does that qualify as a pot shot?

The gap was narrowing, thats a fact. It just so happens the GOP botched it so badly it took longer than expected. Dems couldn't risk the polling continue to narrow on who was to blame.

And btw, the public never blamed the dems.  It was always the republians.

and I said I was wrong about initial blame and how fast the shutdown would end, no problem admitting that.

I don’t know that it factored into the end of the shutdown but it’s worth pointing out that there was an incident at LAX a few days ago where 2 jets taking off nearly collided. Nothing happened so it wasn’t big news, but if it had then there’s a possibility of a huge blowback. Trump would have railed about Dems causing the crash by shutting down the government and causing the FAA to be dangerously short of air traffic controllers. Odds are that would have happened over Thanksgiving even if no crash occurred simply due to massive slowdowns.

 

Regardless, the longer a shutdown went on the more likely Dems would have gotten blame for consequences.

The voters spoke a week ago.  What they said was that when things aren't going well, they are going to punish those in charge.  Simple as that.

 

Going forward, health care premiums are going to rise, dramatically for some.  Republicans are in charge and have never had a healthcare plan.  i suspect that a year from now, if republicans don't have a solution, they will get punished again.  And that doesn't mean I agree with how some senate democrats handled it.

 

The republicans best election chance, imo, for next year is to declare victory in the tariff wars and slowly do a complete 180. Don't think Trump has it in him to do that but it's their best shot.
