59% of republicans want the ACA credits extended.

They already fired everyone they wanted to fire who they could get away with.

I was all for averting a shutdown last time because they were busy firing everyone they could. But it seems like that’s largely over with in terms of just regular workers.

Anyway, let them fuck the country up at this point. Get it over with quickly and let people see what they bought.

Last shutdown it was obvious that they were going to shut everything down anyways.  After voting to fund the government, Trump went ahead and defunded whatever programs he wanted.  It was idiotic to cave last time.

At that point it would have just made it easier for him to do mass layoffs. Now that it’s already done and they passed a “Big Beautiful Bill” it just doesn’t really matter anymore.

Let them shut it down.  The Democrats will own it.

Oh boy.

Republicans very obviously control all 3 branches of government entirely.

The idea that Dems are going to get blamed is silly.

All Republicans would have to do in order to keep the government funded is eliminate the filibuster.

It's pretty obvious that Vought and Trump actually want the shutdown so that they can transform the federal government and cut thousands more jobs.

I say let them have their way.

We'll see what the people think about all this if there's another free and fair election.

The Dems will absolutely will be blamed.    The Republicans have the votes, but Senate Dems are obstructing.  It would be silly to not blame the left.

Yes, Republicans will absolutely blame the Democrats.

Didn't the Democrats make a bunch of ridiculous demands?

Such as?

The opposition party always takes the blame and in this case, the CR is clean. Also its absurd to say just shut the government down. Do you have any idea how many people work for the Feds or DC government who live in the DC area?

Funding this authoritarian federal government would be morally incomprehensible.

Any Democrat that votes for funding this government should be ousted. I consider anyone who votes to provide funding to the admin to be aiding and abetting them at this point.

And of course I'm aware. The more people that are laid off, the worse it will be for Republicans in 2026 and 2028. This comes across as crass and cynical, I know. My brother works as a long time government contractor and is likely to be ultimately affected, and that is a tough fucking pill to swallow for me.

This is a total war on democracy. The continuation of the American experiment in democratic republican self governance depends on Trump and MAGA being wholly defeated. No one of repute should be working under this president.
